Just wondering what map planning software is available for the Garmin GPS family that runs on the laptop. I probably won't have a GPS by CCR next year, but I'd like to be able to put up some of my favorite rides for those folks that are coming from out of area next year.

TIA

IMHO, I think the best line of action would be:

You figure out the routes
Email them to a friend with a GPS (preferrably a Garmin unit)
That person does the routing using MapSource.
Then that person emails those files to you so you can upload them to the CCR website
I suggest this because I believe the majority of GPS owners that will be attending CCR'06 own Garmin units. Sure, they will be a few non-Garmin users there . . . but as long as the routes are able to be viewed as pics and/or text format, they can always create their own routes.

I'm sure Ken (a non-Garmin owner) and others will chime in with their suggestions. Perhaps there is a better method. Or...perhaps there is someone that owns several GPS'es and is willing to create these routes for several different makes. I am unaware of any software that will convert Garmin routes to iWay routes, or any other. Perhaps it exists...we'll see.

I'm sure Ken (a non-Garmin owner) and others will chime in with their suggestions.Well, you know I gotta be different. :)

Actually Joe's suggestion is pretty much what's been done for past years. Downloadable files for Garmins, plus printed maps or emailed directions for the rest of us.

But Steve, I'm still expecting a personalized tour of the local area, followed by a huge glass of Sweet Tea. :)
