So, following a previous thread on noisy exhausts, I took the LT into San Jose BMW, it being a tad noisy. The exhaust is cracked completely around the point the CConverter joins the exhaust/muffler, all the way around. In addition, somehow one of the header pipes has been bashed in an there is barely any flow in that pipe. San Jose reckons that the pipe is too thin now to weld plus the header will be tricky to cut open and bash out and reweld (or however it could be done properly). As I see it my options are:
1. Get a Remus/Cat Eliminator/headers= ~$870 for parts.
2. New original system= ~$1500.
3. Secondhand one from member or Beemerboneyard.
One reason I am not keen on the Remus is that it eliminates the CConverter and I am probably going to take the bike back to Australia. As I don't know the laws regarding emissions in Australia/NZ it would be a real pain to take back the bike and find I have to replace the exhaust with one thats got a CConverter.
Any thoughts? Any suggestions.
