"Only" 60 years old. :rotf:

The baby boomers are pathetic. They actually think that they'll be young forever!

As opposed to immature, Joe?:p  !!EGG-zactly! Yes, I'm immature. But at least I know that I am. There are 70 year-old people walking around thinking they are still 30. I find it amusing. Perhaps because I'm so immature. Or maybe . . .

Heck, I remember most of the things on the list. Cokes were a little more, and I remember thirty cents a gallon at the ESSO, and they put the gas in, checked the oil, and did a fine job on the windows too!

. . . and I'm "only" 46! Geez, imagine what I have to look forward to!

This year, my children are: a high school senior, a high school freshman, and one in kindergarten. I figured out what caused that, however, and I have since had my TV fixed. Now I have something better to do at night! :histerica

Inmaturity has nothing to do with age! I am living proof of that at age 61.

BTW, I was born and raised in Germany. Looking at this, life was really not much different except a lot of things that you had over here, we dreamed of: like a TV in every household, a full size car, a drive in movie theater, and of course we played soccer. But aside from those things, live was pretty much the same. Oh, before I forget: We listend to the same music. My favorite radio station in the 50's was AFN, the American Forces Network.

I was fortunate, my dad was only a POW for a short time. And the Americans that held him fed him well and got him medical care. As a result he was home and working for the British forces and made decent money. In 1954 we were one of the few families on the block to have a "car". We drove to Italy on family vacations with mom, dad,two kids and camping gear. A three day trip one way. This is the car we had:

Enough now, I am starting to feel old and mature, but I guess that would make Joe happy...:p

Enough now, I am starting to feel old and mature, but I guess that would make Joe happy...:pMy happiness is totally independant of anything said in this (or any) forum. A concept very few seem to understand. :)

My dad owned an Esso station, and I worked there in the summers and weekends during school, all the time during the summer. I was in the 7th-9th grades at the time, late 1950s. I did a lot of the oil checking and window washing, and yes, I did a fine job. :) I also remember the $.25/gallon gasoline.
