He part owns the light aircraft maintenance shop at Oakland International. The airport authority was looking for someone to dispose of an old P3 Orion that was lying around. After asking around they heard that Justin had been a fully qualified tech in the Navy working on P3's. Voila, he got the job.

Simple - drain the fluids, gather a few fire extinguishers, rent a good-sized back-hoe and get some spectators to cheer you on.
That's him driving the back-hoe. I didn't even know he could do that.

Brian.. now you have a clue as to the automobile accident... "I dunno, Dad" sounds a bit lame now..? =)

Terrible that they are destroying that plane... it must have been very "broken" for them to just trash it......

However, it's great news your son got the work!!!

John,
It's not all demolition. The P3 was in pretty bad shape - he tried to get a fuel sample from the tanks and gave up after draining about 30 gals of water.

Here's a pic of one they saved - I believe it is a T-28. He removed parts of the wings and towed it through the streets of Alameda with his truck to the Air Museum.

So what are the fire extinguishers for? They sure as heck aren't large enough to deal with anything larger than a small camp fire.

... a large campfire... or a "short escape route"... or just to fill in the "forms"...
