Heated clothing

I was looking at getting a heated vest and was thinking that would be all I'd really need. I've spoke with some folks about heated gear and a few said they bought too much, like heated pants, jacket, gloves etc and that all they really needed was a heated vest..comments pls

I have both the vest and pants, use them both on the winter, I find the vest is great but top of my thigh's get really cold so I bought the pants. All depends on when you ride, 50% of my riding is around midnight or later.

A lot of it depends on your tolerance for cold.
A heated vest is really nice,
I've had several over the years and was quite content and comfortably warm.
A couple of years ago we (wife and I) bought Gerbing jacket liners and thermostats.
If you can afford both I'd recommend the Gerbings over the vest,
but without the thermostat the Gerbings will cook you.

It really depends how much riding you do, and when and where. I live in northeast Ohio and like to extend my riding season as much as humanly possible. Also, as somewhat of a cross-country tourer, one never knows what to expect so you best be ready for anything.

I started out with a BMW heated vest. It worked well for what it's supposed to do, but it could only keep me warm for so long when the temps got really cold. It just wasn't enough for riding in the mid-30s for extended periods. I eventually sold the vest and bought a Gerbing's heated jacket liner. Next, I added pants liners, gloves and socks. With all of that, simply put I can't get cold. PERIOD! Oh, and everything is controlled by a dual-zoned Heat-Troller...different settings for waist-up and waist-down.

Heated gear isn't cheap. But it's kinda like a GPS; once you have it you wondered how you lived without it for so long.

Like everyone states, it depends on how much you ride in the winter. I have the gerbing jacket liner and gloves which I use back and forth to work. On a two or three hour ride I will use the socks. As for the pants I will use long underware, jeans, and Kilimanjero pants.

Gerbing Jacket, pants and vest. I will use the vest the most even here in Florida. I love all three and glad I have them.
