Hehehe, when they send me a bogus e mail...I send them bogus information in return. I figure it'll keep them busy a few minutes.

Just the reason I quit using them, too many scams associated with them.

+1, it just did not seem worth the risk. Any alternatives out there worth looking into?

Isn't this kind of like saying, "I don't want to keep my money in a bank because people keep robbing them"? All good things get "scammed" (I don't know about the IRS being good, but I have seen phising from bogus IRS sites) it is the bad things that nobody bothers with.

Just my 2C.

No because at a bank your money is insured and generally banks are reliable and honest. With Paypal it is another story.

I have used Paypal for years without a problem. Of course, I don't respond to any emails containing links either. It's a great tool if used with care.

Yup, PayPal is excellent. I can take credit card payments for my products/services using them without the hasssle of setting up a business account. Sure they charge about 1/2 of a percent more than the banks, but what price ease and convenience?

Scams only work if you let them. Just be careful and don't divulge any information in response to emails. There have been enough warnings about this over the years that I can't imagine how there are fools out there who still fall for them.

It is not only scams that is of concern with Pay Pal as they can happen with any site, although it seems that they have had a high number, but some shady dealings particularly in conjunction with Ebay. I know of several people who have been bitten by Pay Pal.

My kids were bitten by their bank, but that doesn't mean they don't use banks any more. I know of a few eBay scams, too, and I had one of my own fairly high value ($700+) auctions ruined by a scammer, but eBay's process worked fine. All I lost was a bit of time, and the outbid genuine bidder eventually bought the item at what would have been his own winning bid, so everyone was happy. As in all dealings at auctions, online or in person, caveat emptor!
