My wife and I will be departing at the end of the month to join the Unicorn Adventure’s two week longEditing 'Wine Tour de France' through all the major wine regions and experience France’s long history of wine. The Tour rides through historical places like the Loire Valley and Verdun during the day, taking plenty of time to view the sights and experience the wonderful regional cuisine. We will taste wines in the evenings.

Or rather, Unicorn will be joining us, as at present we are the only customers. When other riders changed their minds, Unicorn decided to proceed with the Tour even though the contract fine print would allow them to cancel if a certain minimum number of riders (6, I think) wasn’t met.

Great for us, and kudos to Unicorn for keeping the tour, but we were looking forward to the camaraderie of a group. If you have a passport, and the time, money, and inclination to see the sights and drink the wine, this may be an opportunity to get a last-minute bargain on the tour. We’re renting an R1200RT but GS’s and LT’s are available. Unicorn is a BMWLT supporting vendor and is at http://www.unicornadventures.com/

Nota bene I don’t have any connection with Unicorn other than that of a customer, and don’t speak for Unicorn in any manner. I’m cross-posting this so you may see it again if you browse in similar company.

The wife and I are very tempted to join you. Unfortunately we are committed to a wedding trip at the end of the month on the east coast. I hope you take lots of pics and take notes. I look forward to your ride report. We have not been to France yet and it is on my places to visit before I become worm food.

Unicorn donated a cert of a discount of up to 200 euros each for up to four paticpants on this tour to the CCR silent auction. I won it for $5.00. It's for sale for what I paid. If anyone wants it, PM me your street address and I'll drop it in the mail.

As a local living only 450 miles north of Reims in a different country (England) can I suggest a couple of good roads to enjoy.

Reims is the capital of the Champagne area and you're bound to pass through it on a wine tour, if you get the chance try the D994 Reims to Bar-le-Duc road only about 45 minutes but a very enjoyable ride with sweeping bends and good grip.

The road from Reims to Epernay (N51) has in the midst of the forest a good place for lunch - The restaurant of the independant winemakes. An excellant lunch when I went although not good for sobriety!

Wine is grown in the Rhine valley so a visit to the area will also be on the itinery, if you get the chance try the D417 from Colmar to Gerardemer, lots of high speed bends and aggressive french drivers, great fun.

Wish I had time to join you, France is the best country in the world, the french people are however something else...

Merci. Thanks for the road tips. We toured France many years ago by bicycle and I can't wait to return.

What a great trip...would love to join you, but no way I can swing two weeks off at this point in the year..or on this notice.

Never even knew this trip existed. Unicorn just sold another one....just for a future year!
