I have read lots of reviews and reports on the new GT and am aware of all the great features of the bike. Does anyone have any opinions about the first generation GT with the flying brick engine? Reason for the question is I have decided after two years on my LT, the LT just isn't me but I still love the K bike power.

I had a K1200RS, which is the exact same drivetrain as the older GT. It was a great bike and one of two that I wish I stilled had. great power delivery, good braking, decent handling, lighter and less top heavy than the LT. IF Iwas to buy a GT I would get the new one as I subscribe to the idea that there's no such thing as too much power. :) But the older GT is a great machine and a lot of fun to ride.

I asked about this in another thread but no one responded - should you also drill the slave cylinder weep hole in the older GT? Does it have FD issues also? I am considering trading in my '99 LT for a 2003 GT but have these concerns before I make up my mind.

I looked at an '04 GT Tranny this morning and it looks like the exact same setup with the Clutch Slave as the LT. In my opinion, it should be drilled. Secondly, the final drives are the same as the ones on the LT...now...the GT weighs a LOT less. Anyone ever had one fail on an old model GT????
