Whew - missed that one when I was in Ontario 2 weeks ago. HATED 401 around Toronto and don't plan to go there again, at least not on that road. The gps took me on some nice unmade roads near Erin, when I was very glad it was dry!

Erin is about 15 minutes from my home, haven't heard any news about a M/C accident lately near here. 401 is better than the roads around Chicago last time I road thru there. I have no problems riding the 401, 410, 407, 400 or 403 roads around here. I also have no problems riding downtown Toronto.
Nothing in the St. Catarines paper in the last 7 days.

I recall an early morning traffic report on the way to work one day last week. They mentioned a severe traffic back-up on the QEW near Ontario St. in St. Catherines due an accident involving a biker. Sorry, no more info than that as I didn't here any further traffic reports that day, or read any newspaper reports either. It is a very busy piece of road that narrows from 3 lanes in each direction to 2 lanes in each direction through the core of St. Catherines.

This highway is not fun to ride on. It is the most busy highwy in North America exceeding anything in the US. One has to be very careful when travelling on it especially on a M/C

THere have been about 4 or 5 recent deaths involving bike accidents in teh Hamilton, Southern Ontario area over the past couple of weeks. Read about them in the Hamilton Spectator. O course they don't mention the style of bike.
A few involved left hand car turns, 1 single bike acident ( AKA too fast, too little experience) and another where the bike blasted into a car coming out of a driveway.
True: The 401/QEW and al the other roads around Toronto and Southern Ontario can be a real experience what with 16 lanes of fast moving traffic and alot of bothered, road raged drivers. But, In the St. Catharines area things generally slow down a bit except on the QEW.
I find that you gotta keep the pressure on those drivers to keep them on tier toes. Stay in the fast lane, not in the middle lane and rarely in the right lane.
Haven't heard anyting else about those accidents but they seem to come in waves.
