I'm a newbie and I'd like to say CCR is awesome. You are all a great group of people and I hope to see you all next year. I haven't relaxed and had that much fun in years.

My ride home to Connecticut was quick. I had the opportunity to ride with fellow CCR members Howard and Caitlin. We did a b line for home and I appreciated there company on this journey. It was nice to have the company.

I made a bunch of new friends and look forward to seeing all.

Thanks
Brian

Hey Brian, it was great to pal around ya. I know that we cannot get together for lunch but I will be in touch with ya and we will be looking for you in Utah. We are already making plans to go. Rhonda was talking about your GF so keep us informed of her progress.

Brian,

Glad to hear you're home safe and sound. Must have just missed you folks Saturday morning. I was downstairs shortly before 7 a.m. but noticed Howard's LT was already gone. Reggie and I easily completed our 575 mile trip home before dark. I'm already studying maps for the Utah trip next year.

It was a pleasure hanging out with you last week. Got that new Zumo all figured out?

Stay in touch,

Brian, the pleasure was ours. We had a nice time riding with you on Saturday.

Paul: Did I mess up? My apologies if you told me, but when I invited you to ride home with us I thought I heard a non-committal answer. I do have a hearing problem (two, actually) and many times I don't hear what I should be hearing. I'm sorry if you were looking to go along with us. Next time! We left at 0645 with Brian leading the way.

No worries, Howard. I was indeed non-committal, as Reggie's stopping requirements (especially first thing in the morning) are greater than most prefer. Even if we had started out with you, chances are we would have soon dropped out of the parade before too long. We turned north on I57 in Illinois anyway.

Glad you had a good trip home. Tell Caity we wish her well this fall in Athens!

Paul

Thanks Paul. I'm a little relieved now.

And you now what? The same thing could have happened with us riding with Brian. I think we went a little longer between stops, and he stopped a bit more than he would have on his own. If it had been a real issue I'm sure no one would have complained if one of us had said they wanted to continue on their own. I think it's just how these things work. I think Brian said that on his way to CCR he stopped once per tankful. I need to stop at the half-way mark, then again when ready for gas. A good seat might change that, but it's not in my future for awhile.

Same thing with Paul Mitchell from Cleveland. We met him at a gas station a few hours out of TTA. I asked him if he wanted to ride along. He said "thanks, but I'll just be going now" or something to that effect. :) We left the gas station, he passed us awhile later, waved for the photo op (posted previously), then continued on at his faster pace. To each his own!

Howard,
I wasn't sure that I could get home in one day with the AM diversion from Jeff City. As it was, I did the ~850 miles at an average speed of 53 mph which included a 20 minute nap at one of the rest stops in IN, multiple gas stops and like you, other rest stops in between. Thought I'd never get through Indy on 70 with my reserve light on. There were no off ramps until way past east of the city. As it was, I pulled in the driveway @10:30 PM violating my 1st rule against night riding especially in deer country. I shadowed 18 wheelers from Columbus home. I think that I forced a few in for early rest stops with my HID. I tried to stay out of their mirrors, but they probably were concerned about the potential of a 2-wheeled trailer! I enjoy group rides but just wanted to get home.

Speaking of which, I did a one-day fly-in to Baltimore today and am glad to be home again today!
I'll get down to the Capital City for a RTE this Fall!

Glad you made it home safe and sound, Paul.

As far as riding with us or anyone else, the only point I was trying to make was: no harm, no foul. I've learned enough in the past 2 years to understand there are many, many variables that can affect any group ride. IMO everyone should be riding their own ride, as they told us in the MSF BRC. I'll respect another person's decision to do what they want to do on a motorcycle.

Brian: it was great meeting you. I look forward to seeing you again, perhaps at STC in NC or CCR.

Nancy and I left for Nashville about 6:30; the same time my brother and his wife left for Shreveport, Louisiana. We rolled into the garage about 6:15 that evening after a 568 mile ride through the backroads of Missouri, northern Arkansas and west Tennessee. We made it all the way to Jackson, TN before deciding to jump on the superslab for the last hour and a half. I also wanted to be home before dark. Deer and other wildlife are just to numerous on the backroads of Tennessee for my taste. This was our first CCR and next year in Utah will, hopefully be our second. I have enjoyed this forum for the last year and have a great appreciation and lot of respect for the people who post here. Then I met some of them in person. Frankly most of you guys are a lot smarter than you look! Just kidding. What a great bunch of "new" friends--including several who live less than 5 miles from me. Friends I would probably have been a long time meeting had it not been for CCR. See you guys next year and several of you sooner. Oh yeah, my brother didn't get in until 10pm. He started playing with the GPS and rode most of northern Arkansas!

Hi Howard.

The pace we did was pretty agressive and the heat definitely didn't make it any easier. Next time if we get the opportunity to cruise together I would be glad to take more breaks. It makes the ride more enjoyable and also get in some social time.

Take care and see you next time

Brian
