As a Newbie to CCR I wasn't quite sure what to expect especially since I had "volunteered" my 2000 LT for the Tech demonstration; 24K Maintenance. I purchased it last August from the original owner but since it was a "Distress Sale" (he needed cash!) I didn't know his riding style or if the required maintenance had been done.
I want to thank John Zeiler (Jzeiler) and John Fish (Alaskafish) for their great knowledge of the LT and their "wrenching" from 8 AM to 5 PM on Wednesday with a just a short break for lunch. Also kudos to a CCR dealer supporter, Grass Roots BMW of Cape Girardeau & Herb Anderson. Herb went out of his way to secure parts not in stock and have them overnighted to Tan Tar A!
Not only was this an event that was well supported by CCR attendees, it has given me the confidence to go beyond the easy stuff like changing engine oil & filter and the rear drive fluids. I'll feel little compunction now in stripping my lady down for a periodic valve clearance check, pulling the fuel tank or to add more future farkles.
Thanks again guys as well the the BOARD OF DIRECTORS and all of the Committee Chairs and the unrecognized volunteers of this board and CCR for making this all possible! Unfortunately I won't be at CCR '08 because I'm blowing my vacation time on a BMW tour of North Africa in'08, but I'll be with you in spirit and will make a $$ contribution to www.bmwlt.com for all of the help and fellowship it has provided to me this year.
BTW, where can I send a contribution for next year's CCR Charity?
Ride like you stole it!

Paul, it was fun (in a quasi-sadistic sort of way) to watch your bike get torn down to its bare essentials. I could only stay for the first hour or so of the tech session but I did keep checking in on things throughout the day, to see what was being done. At one point I believe more parts/components were on the floor than were on the bike! It all ended well, though.

I too being a first timer, was just overwhelmed with new info. I watched like a hawk at the two repair bikes in the AC cooled room. THAT gave me much more than my money's worth. ;)
Then you added the great seminars. I have to say that my favorite one was the Bridgestone fellow. ..............T J Tennant..............HE was outstanding and gave me and others the confidence we need on tire pressures and much more. WOW!!!! :)
Thanks much to all that contributed to CCR 2007.
I'm hooked. Can't wait for the registrations to open up for 2008. It'll be another first for me as it'll be my first visit to Utah.
Thanks to a GREAT bunch of BMW bikers.

Youbetcha!
But, Alaskafish kept track of everything and I don't recall that there were any extra parts leftover.

Yup, that first CCR is a memory keeper for sure, Paul. I had sensory overload at the first one I attended and couldn't wait for the next one, and the next one. Now that I've missed three in a row, I'm looking to repeat that 'newbie' feeling again. Glad you had a great time, met folks face to face, and benefited by providing a donor scoot for the tech seminar. Doesn't get much better'n that!
BTW - congrats on getting published in BMW ON (Sept issue, page 15).

Just happy that we didn't forget anything on your Bike Paul! Like John said, the pleasure was ours. And hopefully a few more folks will feel a little more confident about doing their own service as a result of your volunteering to let us use your Bike for the Demo!
Meanwhile, guess who ended up with some bad fuel on the ride home from CCR? Yours truly here. And we ain't home yet since we are visiting relatives in Minnesota prior to heading home to Oregon. So it looks like I may be removing my own fuel tank this week to check the pump & filter!
Hope your ride home was much better.

We all take pride in our name and I missed that one by a long shot Mr. Fisher! Sorry
BTW, the brakes are right on!
I feel engagement with <1/2" squeeze. Great ride home of almost Iron Butt proportions. I did 854 miles in 16 hours and the LT didn't miss a beat! :rotf:

Thanks Dick! I had the mail held, but they must have delivered at least one day and ON was there. I remember that day like it was yesterday.(It was 45 years ago!)
Found the same model & color at the Piaggio Museum in Pontedera - Pisa - Tuscany last Fall.
