Hi everyone. The new website looks great!

I'm in the middle of a big tupperware party to install the 1100X ez mount light kit on my 1999 K1200LT, and am ready to connect the wiring harness.

If anyone has experience doing this I'd like to learn from your installation.

1. How is the best way to route the wires up front to the PIAA lamps?

2. What wire did you use for the power source for the switch power wire (white one).

Thanks in advance for the help!

In the short term, some route the wires along the outside of the fuel tank, along one of the tip-over bars.

The better way in the longer term is to route the cables under the tank, in the open space between the air box and the electrical box, and then out alongside the steering head, kept away from the fork tubes.

This location both protects the wires and keeps them out of the away when you or a tech are in doing other work (nothing a tech likes less than having to get through a rat's nest of wires to work on stuff, like fuel filter change).

As to the trigger wire, how do you want these set up? Slaved to the low beam? Operable independent from the low beam? Operable without the ignition on? Only when the ignition is on?

If you want slaved to the low beam, it's pretty common to tap the parking light bulb harness (marginally easier than tapping the low beam wire, as the low beam's connector is a pita to release). Tapping a switched circuit under the seat is an alternative, such as the passenger seat power connector.

Need the wire colors?

Thanks, Mark.

I found on the old site where some have had luck threading the wires under the tank with a wire. I'll try that rather than taking the tank off now.

I would like the lights to be independent in operation, and will try tapping the circuit under the passenger seat.

By tapping the trigger wire to the park lamb they will still be independent, but that will insure that the key has to be on.

Yep -- just as with rear seat heater. It really becomes more a question of which is more convenient to tap -- one at the front of the bike, or one near the battery.
