Rally Point: Mel's Restaurant in Jackson

Rally Time: 0830 with a full tank. Breakfast at Mel's? 0730 http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/ernaehrung/food-smiley-002.gif

Route: Hwy 88 over Carson Pass, drop down into Nevada onto US395 north, US50 east at Carson City, north on the Comstock Hwy(341) into Virginia City. About 150 miles one way. Ride it fast, ride it slow, just keep the rubber down and shiney side up! http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/grinser/grinning-smiley-026.gif

Stops: Photo Ops in the Sierras. Fuel in Carson City. Lunch in Virginia City.

Virginia City is a restored, historical yet fully functional western frontier town complete with restaurants, shops, saloons, and gambling. Just strolling down the main drag in your bike duds is an experience in itself. It will also be decorated for the holidays. A fascinating destination full of interesting folks and unique holiday gift ideas. Plan on a couple hours. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/weihnachten/xmas-smiley-005.gif http://www.virginiacity-nv.org/

Gear: The forecast is for sunny skies but cold weather gear will be the order of the day over the Carson Pass and in Virginia City. Brisk and invigorating. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/natur/nature-smiley-009.gif

Return Route: Those who ride will decide. The intent is to be home before dinner. US50 back towards Tahoe and around Zephyr Cove is one idea.

Please let me know if your coming. All are welcome! http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/grinser/grinning-smiley-002.gif

Well it's currently snowing on Carson Pass and possibly below freezing in Virginia City on Saturday. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/natur/nature-smiley-12.gif

Not three days ago weather.com was calling for sunny skies and upper 40s.

Time to unplug the vest and plug in the trickle charger. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/traurig/sad-smiley-009.gif

Guess we knew the nice weather would not last forever. We'll try this one again in the spring and but we'll still sneak those day rides in whenever the sun is out and road is dry!

Well, it's a sunny day on this side of the hill. We're going to ride down to Jackson for lunch anyway and see what direction the wind blows from there!

It was a little nippy most of the day but the sun was shining and it made for an excellent day to be on the road. Lunch was great at Mel's per usual. Mid 40s in Jackson. We took a short loop after lunch up 26 over to 104 down 88 across Ridge Road and back down into Sutter Creek. Upper 30s near West Point. The fall colors still abound and scent of burning fireplaces filled the air. Strolled old town Sutter Creek for an hour with hot cups of joe. The town is all decorated up for the holidays. Four bikes, six riders. :thumb:
