well, ...I'm not very good with a soldering iron...but I finally bit the bullet and swapped my Autocom speakers for a set of Radio shack titanium, $9.95 headset specials..
Took the Radio Shack headset apart and soldered the speakers into the Autocom lead........
WOW !!!! What a difference !!!
I didn't even know there was a female vocalist in the background............
...Imagine if I had bought the $29.95 set...............

I think the really amazing thing is that $9.95 speakers are better than Autocom speakers.

I think the really amazing thing is that $9.95 speakers are better than Autocom speakers.I'm fairly convinced that the speakers that come stock with most intercom headsets have a VERY narrow dynamic range, focused in the midrange (say 800Hz to 3.5KHz) as to work well with the human voice's natural dynamic range. Unfortunately, they totally suck for music of any kind.

I think that's probably right Joe.
The highs were non-existent and the bass was just a sort of muffled vibration.
