I own a 2005 R1200RT and absolutely love it, with one exception, the radio. Has anyone had any experience with upgrading the radio or speakers. The radio is almost useless above 45 mph and the quality of the audio is low at best, even when stopped. Surely there has to be a better alternative out there. Any help?

I find that my OEM radio is good to about 75 - if I raise the windshield a bit.

No RT...yet. My dealer mentioned that the stock RT radios are not so popular (in MA). However, it is really the speakers that make the radio. Those should be easy to replace.

When I replaced my stock windscreen with a Cee Bailey it vastly improved ability to hear the radio. Can now hear it at 70 and beyond.

I have no problem hearing my radio on my 2005 RT and I wear earplugs while riding. I have a Windstream windshield by Z Technik.

Same here with acceptable audibility with BMW radio in combo with ZTechnik, which I raise slightly to quiet the air. I enjoy riding with the visor raised and the "tunes" cranked up!

I have enjoyed the radio since purchased. I will admit, songs you know are much easier to listen too! :)
The ZTech screen helps.
Talk radio is out at any decent speed. However, highway cruising is decent with tunes.
I would be curious to hear of anyone that updated the speakers on the RT.
I have an '05 RT.
