I have nothing but praise for the service department at Iron Horse. Mechanics are certified and master certified, and aren't just sleep walking through it like some dealers in Chandler, AZ. I've never had a 'take back' here. Great waiting room where you can watch them work on your bike.
But, I've had a couple of unpleasant surprises on my bills from the parts counter. On one occassion I bought 4 quarts of oil and a filter--got charged for 4 quarts and 4 filters. At BMW prices that close to $50. The second was a front Metz 880 that was billed as a Z6 or something. I discovered both long after the fact when looking back to see what had been done when (and to whom). Both my fault for not reviewing the bill, it's only 5,6,7,8 pages long as it spits out of the printer.
Bottom line -- enough of a negative for me not to do the four hour round trip to Tucson.

Hey, John - if'n I wuz in charge of the parts counter personnel at Iron Horse, I'd wanna know 'bout those kinda f'ups, and who better to learn it from than you. 'Puter prolly won't tell me, and the parts counter dude prolly won't either. Could be that somebody else got charged for 4 qts/'1' filter when in fact they picked up 4 and 4; and another customer got a Z6 tire for an 880 price. At any rate, I'd sure like to know 'bout thangs like that so's I can help make sure it don't happen again.
One of thangs I like about Lone Star BMW in Austin - they don't lemme pay the bill 'til they've gone over it with me. And I love that 2.5 hour round trip ride; course I gotta few twisties to do on the way; along with some awesome cinnamon rolls at the Blanco Bowling Alley cafe!!!
Good luck with your next service appointment, John. Hope somebody restores your faith in them parts dudes (or dudettes, in my case!!).

Hey John,
I agree with you on Ironhorse having good techs and nice friendly sales folks. Too bad about the invoice errors. I've bought from them before and not had any problems...so I'd bet you getting bit twice is a rare occurrance. But still very maddening if you're the one! Since Deming Cycles in SW New Mexico has closed...Ironhorse is going to become my dealer of choice...and most of what you hear about this dealership is positive. If I had close dealers like you, I'd probably do the same, although I hear mostly neutral or negative stuff on the PHX dealers (but I've not got any first hand experience).
At least you have choices...which many of us don't. Thanks BMW!!!

You can be sure that the general manager and owner will read this thread. Problems like that need to be addressed, because it doesn't take many mistakes like that to leave a bad impression.

Years ago, a college Prof pointed out that if you don’t let a company know there is a problem, they don’t know there is a problem.
I have the feeling that IronHorse would want to know about any problems, especially the new owner.

Iron Horse Motorcycles, Tucson, is a fine dealer. One of my two primary dealers -- the other being BMW Motorcycles of Milwaukee.
