LT lost at sea!

The attached is the last time you'll see this photo of my beloved LT...underwater! :eek:

My LT has accompanied me around the world for my OTHER hobby, underwater photography, and has been photographed in the Indian Ocean, Papua New Guinea, St. Vincent, and Indonesia, to name but a few.

Sadlly, on my latest trip to Indonesia (just got back a week ago), shortly after I took this picture, my LT came up missing! Guess I'll have to go to Kinkos and use their laminating machine so she can accompany me on future trips! ;)

Huh? What are fakes? If you're referring to the photos, I'm afraid you're mistaken, since I personally took all of those photos (underwater) myself, and the LT in question is indeed my very own Salsa (or more accurately a laminated photo of her that I travel with).

Guess I was a bit too obtuse. I was making fun of the fact that I am usually one of the first in line to point out that photo 'X' that Joe Sixpack just posted is a fake and that if he had just spent a few minutes doing a little research he would have know it too. I mean come on, an LT, underwater, with fish? :)

That's OK Bruce. I took the photos for fun and believe with the right size snorkle, an LT would be perfectly fine underwater. I believe it would help cool the rear drive.

:o Thanks for the compliments, Pete (and others). I think I'm finally getting the hang of this particular camera (Canon 1Ds MkII) underwater; it certainly is an amazing piece of equipment! Of course, it's still easier to take crappy photos than good ones (you haven't seen the other 2,000 shots I took on this trip!). ;)

Also, it doesn't hurt to be diving in what is now considered the center of marine biodiversity for the entire planet (Raja Ampat, Indonesia)...

If you look closely at the LT you'll notice that it has an envelope surrounding it. Very similar to some marine species that I have seen form a mucoid covering around themselves at night (e.g. parrot fish). Could it be that the LT has some type of artificial intelligence that allows it to adapt to it's environment?

Awesome Pics Bruce... I keep three Marine Aquariums and was interested to see your pics of many of the same species I keep at home. Sometimes I lose sight of the fact that many of the fish I buy were once wild and thriving...Now there just clinging to life in my glass tank-o-death! OK...It isn't that bad now...But when I started, The wife called it the "Cruel Tank".......I had a steep learning curve!

We have two aquariums at my office, and I, too, have mixed feelings sometimes about the number of fish that die for every one that actually survives in an aquarium (although once an aquarium is stabilized, fish can live for several years, as long as many would likely live in the wild). It's especially sad to see the more fragile species (e.g., mandarinfish and seahorses) that almost never survive for more than a few weeks in aquariums. That was one reason it was so nice to see (and get photos of! :D) the mandarinfish on this last trip in the act of mating! :cool:

Thank you for solving my problem. I had alway left the LT at home to guard the house while we were gone because I couldn't find scuba gear that would fit it. Now that know that the LT can hold its breath that long, It will now be on the next Pacific trip we go on.

I have 3 marine tanks. 1 reef in my house, 1 reef at work and a Reef/seahorse tank.

1 species tank with sea horses. It is possible to keep them alive for years.

I have 2 that are about 3 years old and 2 Reidi's that are about 1 year each.

The Reidi's have off spring about every 3 weeks in my tank during the winter months. The Fry are VERY difficult to raise.

In the US only Tank breed seahorses are legal to sell.

Mandarin fish. You need a large tank and lots of live rock. The mandarin fish ONLY eats live food. Unless you have a thriving reef tank, don't even try. Once again, I have a mandarin for about 1 year in my office tank.

I wish everyone with an aquarium (or an aquarium store) was as responsible as you are. If stores would only sell delicate creatures like seahorses and mandarins to people with well-established reef tanks, a lot less of them would die. Keep up the good work!:)
