That's the title of my new book about my 4300-mile solo ride on a '99 LT from California to New York. Some of you may remember posts I made about plans for this ride. Well, it happened, and my daily journal somehow turned into a 170-page book (including photos and route maps) published earlier this year! Here's the blurb on the back cover:
Since before men walked on the moon, before hand-held calculators, cable TV and compact discs, even before the George Foreman Grill, Bill Bortis had dreamt of riding a motorcycle all alone across the United States. A chicken at heart, though, he always found an excuse not to do it.
As his sixtieth birthday approached, however, an unanticipated turn of events finally thrust an engraved invitation from Fate into his hands. He accepted. But not without some difficulty…and some luck!
Hop onto the back of Bill’s bike and live this once-in-a-lifetime experience along with him. You’ll soon see why his favorite quote is from Ogden Nash: “You’re only young once, but you can stay immature forever.”
If you'd like a copy, contact me by email: c2cin35@yahoo.com. Mention this site, and get $2 off the cover price of $14.95.
