Gonna ask the board to help me out again. Im gonna be in Memphis in mid-September and Im wondering if there are any good roads in the area. Ive heard of the Natchez Trace, but I dont know anything about it or if its close to Memphis. I will be staying in Memphis proper near Beal St so Im not worried about nightlife. Anyone from the area or familiar w/ the area know any good roads or day trips?

Tom,

If you head West into Arkansas, the Crowley's Ridge Pkwy (163/284) runs from Jonesboro down to Forrest City where you can pick it up off I-40, pretty nice hilly, twisty ride for that part of the state. Most of the rest of that area close to the river is farmland flat. If you head South toward Helena, cross the river you can visit the disputed crossroads of blues history near Clarksdale Ms. And between Clarksdale and back up to Memphis on Highway 61, there's plenty of places to lose you money in the casinos. The area around Lake Sardis Ms is pretty nice as well. Sorry, no help North/East of Memphis. Enjoy the BBQ while there!

Thanks for the information, the road was real nice of what I got to ride of it. Unfortunatley I was riding w/ a couple of very bitchy, whiny girly-men that werent skilled enough to handle the gentle curves of that wonderful road and I had to cut it short because "its too hot" and my favorite "Harleys werent designed to handle roads like this". All pathetic excuses, but I appreciate the info and I will get back there again, maybe w/ my wife, she's a lot toughter than the Sally's I was travelling with

+1 on Crowley's Ridge Parkway. I was born in Memphis and raised in Forrest City, so I can verify it's a fun road. Got into all kinds of trouble running around up there as a kid. :D
