So, here I am coming off a 3800 mile vacation on my 05 LT and I notice a couple of drops of oil underneath the "beast", next to the right leg of the center stand. Hmmm, this calls for an investigation. Not knowing exactly what to look for, I saw no source, but did see a that oil has coated the underside of the bike, on the right side. I'm thinking oh no, my precious hydralic center stand is dying. Better call the dealer and see if I am still under warranty (Don't have $2K to spare right now). The service manager says come on by and we will look at it. I did and they found it was the drive shaft seal. Getting it repaired Friday.
Now here is the good part: my warranty is still good. I am going out and buying a lottery ticket today. My luck never works like this. BTW, mileage is about 24,000.
Thought a good story was in order.

Rich,
Thank the Lord your warranty was still in effect! :D
But, if it hadn't been, we woulda' fixed it here for the cost of parts! AND you KNOW we CAN do it! Let us know how it turns out! Blessings!

05 Lt on trip to Missouri and I noticed oil leaking on my centerstand. It was the last day of my warranty. called my dealer in Louisville on last day of warranty and told him . he wrote a ticket up and asked when I could bring it in. I rode 2000 more miles thru Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tn, Ky and stopped at dealer on way home and left bike. Turned out it was the driveshaft seal between shaft and Transmission. repaired under warranty. Also had the cowbell rotot but they would not replace that under warranty.

You're lucky I had the same spot on my 03. With 8 months left on the warranty show it to the dealer and he said duh. 2 months out of warranty the clutch was toast because of a bad input shaft rear oil seal which I had to eat the cost.

Jack,
Thanks for the offer. I know those guys will do a good job, but if you don't mind, can I save your offer on something out of warranty when that happens? LOL.

If you still have warranty I would sure recommend purchasing extended warranty. I would not own a BMW motorcycle without warranty. I have a 2005 and purchased extended warranty and will have collect over 3,000 dollars in less that 15,000 miles after the original warranty. The extended warranty is cheap compared to repair cost.
