Bought new LT from MAX BMW, North Hampton, NH (nice guys...very professional, customer-focused). Took MSF "beginner course," as I have been away from cycles for 30+ years; so now newly licensed in Mass and I am "rip-raring," ready to go. My wife observed she has not seen me this excited in years--precisely the reason I bought the bike...to put one career behind me and start another. And you know what? This next career will be "all about me!" (And my lovely wife, of course. Just bought her a helmet.)

Looking to hook up with some old salt LT riders near the Berkshires of western Mass., or eastern NY State around Albany. So give a shout if that's you, and I'll meet you at the Algonquin Pub, Lake George. Assuming of course I can learn to ride the thing...

See you out there...Clark

Clark,

You'll do just fine. Just remember there is a big learning curve with the LT. It is a large machine, but a fine riding one. God bless...hopeyou enjoy it to the fullest!

Have fun,
Kevin

You are gonna love this new life.

The LT is the best bike you could have purchased for touring this great land. At the end of the day, you will have enjoyed the ride more and be less tires by doing your touring on the LT than any bike I can think of.....that is mostly due to the excellent wind protection, ease of control in the curves(you don't have to fight it), fantastic brakes, electronic cruise control, heated seats, adjustable windscreen, and smooth, quiet operation. The LT is a confidence inspiring machine that encourages long rides to beautiful places.

Enjoy.

When you get your new LT, bring some 200 grit sand paper with you.

Use that to make a mark on a tip over wing.

There - done. Now when she takes an involuntary 'dirt nap', you won't be all broken up 'bout it <g>.

Seriously - enjoy the ride and remember, if you don't scratch 'em, you ain't trying hard enough. Enjoy!!!

Welcome to the world of "LT" lovers!! With leaf season approaching, it will be time to head up toward your neck of the woods. Otis, Lee, Lenox, and points in southern Vermont. Usually use NY 22 to get past Pittsfield local traffic. Enjoy the new ride.

I would wait a while before going on a ride with my wife. It will take time to get used to the weight of the LT just riding by yourself. The last thing that you want to do with your brand new bike is to drop it in the parking lot with your wife aboard. YMMV

You will love this bike and it will make you smile every time you get out on the open road. Ignore owner's manual tire pressures and see threads on the site. 42/48 works well for two up. My '05 also runs quite well on regular gas, but it's up to you to decide about it. Enjoy the ride!

Welcome, gentle on the brakes they are very powerful when the the bike is running, and not very powerful with the ignitions off. If she decides to take a nap, she's not mad at you.
