Hoping I can glean some collective knowledge from the almighty forum. I've been having radio/comm gremlins since I bought the bike. The last repair attempt had me pulling the tuppeware, cleaning and lubing all the connectors. This appeared to fix my problems since every single electrical component worked when I was done :) and had continued to until I went for a ride yesterday,

As I was about to leave and with the CD playing (CCR), I plugged in my headset. BAM! No more sound and the LCD display on the radio goes blank. The unit has power - I can see the background light coming on - and there's a very faint image from the LCD when it's first turned on. No CD, radio or Aux. I forgot to check the comm system w/ my wife's helmet so I'll need to post a follow-up with it's status.

Anybody have this happen to them? Suggestions?

Try removing the cd cassette and reinstall it you should have music. if that doesn't work, disconnect battery for a couple of minutes and return cable and music should play.A couple of fixes for the radio. HTH!!!!

My '02 experienced something similar on a couple of occasions. Both happened after water had leaked into the control element (the thing under the buttons). The first time it dried out on its own, but the second, after I left the bike out uncovered in an all night rain, only resumed working after I disassembled the control element and cleaned the internals. I used contact cleaner and a Q-tip. Even then one channel was kaput, and I finally got a used replacement.

Following the suggestions of others PLUS this great website attaching related posts, I tried disconnecting the battery for a few hours. Seems to have done the trick as the radio now seems to work fine. :)

All I can think is that it didn't like being on when I plugged in my headset. Maybe the di-electric grease was a little too heavy and created a momentary short. I plug in before turning it on and everything seems OK. Also works w/o the headset. Didn't see anything in the manual warning against plugging in with the radio 'ON' but my bike doesn't seem to like it.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is it a precursor to the radio failing? Thanks again everyone.
