I have had an Autocom system on my 02 LT since July 2003. I have never been happy with the crap speakers they have. As an experiment, I bought some headphones at radio shack and took them apart, spliced them onto the autocom wiring and put them in my wifes helmet. She agreed that the sound quality was good and the bass seemed a little better. For my own helmet, I had a friend install some top of the line J&M speakers in my helmet and they sound somewhat better. My question is; I'm about to need a new helmet and I want to install a really great set of speakers in it! Some people have said that the LTs system overwhelms tiny helmet speakers and I can understand that but given the level of technology we have in this country, it seems like I could find a set of speakers that could handle the powerful "LT" system.
I think my biggest complaint is the lack of bass. Even the new J&M speakers distort when you turn up the volume. I have considered tearing apart a set of Bose or Sennheiser headphones but I don't want to drop that kind of money and it not work out. Is there anyone out there that can enlighten me on how to get the sound quality Im looking for?
I currently have an HJC Symax helmet but the two that I'm considering are the Nolan N102 and the Shoei Multitec.
Thanks,
Brian
