I want to add aux lights to my 2007 LT. Mine has the new nose with the high beam mounted under the low beam so it does not have as much room as the older models. I was thinking of adding fork mounted PIAAs or Motolights. PIAAs are a little cheaper. Does anyone have any experiences or recommendations?
Thanks,
Bruce

I had 2 sets of MotoLights on my LT. Now, just one set on my GT. I absolutely LOVE THEM! Their caliper-mount units look like OEM equipment. And their lifetime lamp-replacement policy makes them cheaper than the PIAAs in the long run.

Depends...do you want to see or be seen?
I have both and love them. The PIAA's are better for seeing things down the road, and the Motolights are okay for lighting up the ditches, but add a better dynamic to visibility to me.

Love the caliper mount Motolights I added recently. Along with the HIDs, it just so much better, even in normal traffic situations. Car drivers (most...) can see me (http://s128.photobucket.com/albums/p196/cws127/K1200LT%20HID_Motolights%20install%20sml/?action=view¤t=end_result.jpg) now! Can't wait to get them out in the country at night.

Have a 2001 LT.
Have both the Motolights (caliper mount)
and PIAA 1100X's on EZ-Mounts, below the fairing.
The Motolights provide illumination to the near front and sides,
but lack distance.
They also provide a large triangle of lights (headlight and the two lower Motolights) to oncoming traffic.
Very distinctive and noticeable.
The PIAAs provide excellent mid-distance penetration.
Instead of mounting them aimed directly forward,
I have mine angled across each other (left angled right, right angled left)
to provide illumination in the turns.
Hope this helps.

I've been riding with the Motolights since 2003 and as noted the triangle of light pattern is a big plus for safety. Wakes up the sleeping brains of the cage drivers!!! Barnett

As mentioned above, the Moto Lites are more for being seen, as they provide little forward illumination. They are good for turning. I like them.

As mentioned above, the Moto Lites are more for being seen, as they provide little forward illumination.Sure they aren't HIDs, but I think the above statement is a little harsh. I feel that the MotoLights coupled with an HID low-beam lights-up the road quiote nicely. The MotoLights illuminate (fill the gaps) closer to the bike where the HID over-shoots.
YMMV

Hi Bruce. I also have an '07 LT. I had Amber Motolights installed on the calipers and PIAA 1100X's on EZ-Mounts, below the fairing. I love this setup. My dealer said he could see me coming 2 blocks away; looked like a freight train!. If I could only get one, I would opt for the Amber Motolights (caliper mounted). I had the Motolights wired into the low beam so they are on all the time. The PIAA's are switched. Let us know what you end up with.

Moto lights (Caliper Mount) with HID here.
Always get put up front as leader after night fall.
The Motos are always on in the day(turn them on with an Auto switch on the TS cancel). Gives an nice pattern up front for beeing seen.
My Opinion since you asked :D

I am very found of my PIAAs under the cowls as they provide the triangulation and are very bright. I always get comments from people who told me they saw me way before I passed them.
However I had the opportunity to ride with Tony (Deputyextraordinaire5211 :D ) who like many of us has a HID low beam (very very very white), and also a set of amber Motolites. I must say that in our sunny and bright California daylight the HID gets a little lost, but those amber Motolites made a huge difference.
