This post is mostly a question for those who do not do their own maintenance. For me, I'm doing three things:
1) Buying a lottery ticket to pay for the maintenance!
2) Riding/pampering my R1150R.
3) Posting stupid posts on this forum. (Sorry, had to tell the truth!)

when my LT when in for the 12M check I had to sell my blood, cash in my life insurance, tap into my retirement fund and tried to sell my wife but nobody was bidding, so I paid $800.00 for the check up

My 12K was just shy of $1000 so ever since then I do my own maintenance. I'm not a great mechanic but I can change the fluids and get everything back together with no leftover parts.

Bought my 05 with 33,600 klms on it in Oct 06. I managed to get them to throw in the 40,000 klms service as part of the deal. They could not get it done for about 3 weeks so I ask if I could take the bike and bring it back when it had 40,000 on it. It is in the shop right now. They did the service but are still fixing a warranty issue. It is still under warranty until end Apr 08. Will wait till I pick it up hopefully this week-end and see how things work out.

You can save about $150 by taking off all the tupperware at home and riding it in naked.

You'll get a sofa to sleep on - some good ol fashioned home cook'n and one heck of a nice ride out 'n back home - cuz I know most a yaz ain't from 'round here.
Seriously - door is always open here and if I gotta take a day or two off from the whip cracker to get your ride going - cool. But if you've a local dealership - back 'em up so they'll back you when ya need it.

Robbed a bank, held up the convenience store down the street, and pimped my bosses son to have enough to bond the bike out.
Saved enough for gas to make it to the next Tech Session.

I did not own my bike at the 12,000 mile service but when the 24,000 came due I received the service estimate of $1,200.00 ( actual cost a little over $900.00) I took the dealer up on his offer of a loaner bike and preceded to put over 200 miles on it. (Felt that I got some of the money back). Since I am mechanically handicapped I have the dealer service my bike and always get the loaner bike. The only question I get from them is "where did you go with all those miles?"
They have even gone the extra mile of pulling a new bike off the sales floor to give me a loaner! I have only good things to say about SIERRA BMW here in Reno, NV
The thing that I find odd is the actual repair costs have always come in under the estimated repair costs. Hope I did not jinx it by saying this!

I was going to just sell the bike, but the service manager at the dealership convinced me I could do most of it myself. He was right.

My LT is back! Dan King is absolutely right on IRT BMW of Fresno. Additionally, if you get there early on the weekend, there's a girl that brings in breakfast scooby snacks! Seriously, the folks at Fresno have always treated me right. In fact, when I found out that Steve and the boys recently did the 12K service on a R1150R I was looking at, I bought it. IMHO, my money has been well spent. See you folks on the road.

Right, that's it! I'm shipping my bike over for CCR2010, Via Tate's place, where the wife and I will enjoy a couple a days taking in the sights, while Tate services the bike. By then it will need more than the 12K.
Then we can ride to CCR together. Thank you for the offer, see ya in 2010......
