There has been little discussion on travel plans to CCR. I see on the attendance list that Oregon and Washington have several going to CCR. What are some of the routes and planned stops (sights) you are planning to see along the way?

 Gee Ernie, thanks for asking. We are going to be leaving after work Friday night and catch a stop in Baker City. Saturday after a stop at the Oregon Trail exhibit for the GT checkpoint we are going to head through Northern Idaho and Wyoming on our way to Grand Junction, CO. From there we will continue on through the rockies to the great state of Kansas then on to Tan-Tar-A. For those going to CCR. Have a great trip. Those staying behind, have a super time riding the best part of the country. ;)

You and Pauline have a great ride on the "Green Machine" and wave to our old property in Grand Junction as you go through the valley. Ride safe...... What route are you taking out of Grand Junction?

I did not have the vacation time to go this year (%@*&%$**). I guess it is just as well because I ended up in the critical care unit of Valley Hospital last week anyway and I will not be doing a lot of long distance riding for another month or so.
I had an undiagnosed bleeding ulcer and I just about bled myself dry. I collapsed and home and laid on the bathroom four for four hours until my wife came home and called 911. Being totally helpless is a humbling thing. I was so weak I couldn't get off the floor or even crawl 10 feet to the phone. Long story short, my normal blood hematocrit (% of red blood cells in the total volume of blood) is 49 but it was 17  when I went into the emergency room. Five units of whole blood over three days in the CCU and they got it back up to 28. I spent two more days in the general medical ward and then came home.
I am already back to work and I feel better now than I have for a couple of months . Now that we know what is going on I won't have this issue to worry about again. The doctors misdiagnosed my chest pains and we have been chasing our tails with heart and diabetes related tests. My ulcer is in an unusual place, high in the stomach so my chest pain was actually my ulcer. My doctors even prescribed daily aspirin at my last visit two months ago for heart care . Needless to say I am looking for a new GP :(.
The crazy thing is two days before I collapsed I spent a whole day riding my GS up off Hwy 410 in the FS72 and FS70 road systems. I had to stop numerous times just to rest, something very unusual for me. I'm lucky I didn't collapse up there somewhere .

Lordy Jim, glad that you were not out in the boonies on your Bike is an understatement of the grandest order buddy! Glad to see that you have it under control now though. Me thinks taking it easy for a while is a good idea.
Oh yeah, Ernie, I guess maybe we should have responded to your request earlier, but we've been busy traveling around the State to finish up as much of our work program as we can prior to departing for CCR this coming Wednesday! Finally found some time to sit down at the computer long enough to respond here. Of course only after you have answered yourself first!!
We are planning on hitting some of the GT checkpoints along the way as well as visiting friends & relatives on the way to & from, so we budgeted in extra days on both ends. Swinging up to Minnesota on the way home to visit more relatives, so we are coming home the Northern most route. But still not hitting Canada for those Checkpoints though.
Looking forward to the Meet & Greet on Monday night at CCR! Plus I foolishly raised my right hand when they were soliciting help with the Tech Session at CCR right after John Rehder dropped out, so that's where I will be on the Wednesday of our CCR week!

+1 on the Lordy, Jim. Very sorry to hear about your ordeal, but glad to see you are on the mend.
I guess I should have also posted my plans sooner. Here they are: I知 going to leave early Tuesday morning and take a straight route to Denver. We are talking 992 miles and I plan to do it non-stop. I知 taking a well deserved rest in Denver, but after an hour and a half of down time, I知 heading on a straight route to Saint Louis. The rest of the trip should be at a much slower pace, but I should get to CCR in time for dinner. Of course if United looses my luggage, I may be a little bit late. :histerica

Well, I'll be heading North into the Pacific North Wet on Friday, to visit family up at Priest Lake ID, then I'm heading down to Portland on Monday. I thought I'd follow Dan's route out to CCR, sound a little slow and what's with the rest break in Denver? :p
Any how it should be a great trip and after CCR I'll be heading up to Bellingham WA to spend the rest of the Labor Day Holiday with family.

I'll b sure to wave! It was that nice place in the meadow on the banks of the river, right? ;) We are heading through the Rockies on 50 and jumping up to Tan-Tar-A on 54. The fun part is getting to the Rockies, then... Yawn :p

Gee Jim, what a thing to live through. We are glad your condition was caught in time and you are on the mend. Take it easy and live to ride another day.:bmw: We both think you are right, a new doctor is the way to go. Whew! That was close!

We will be hitting some GT points as well, however I think Canada and Montana will not see us this year. I heear the Montana checkpoint is one to forget anyway.:p
We are planning to hang out in the Condo and Resort most of the time while we are there. I'm entered in the Riders Class for all of Wednesday, so I'll miss your tech session, however we might have another one here in the "shop" when we return.;)
Looking forward to seeing everyone there... almost everyone.:( BTW, who is fixing drinks if Brian isn't going. Bummer for sure.

That's funny right there! Be sure to get your fuel receipt at the start so you can get your BBG (15k in 24). I bet it will be a record time in the IBA roster.:histerica See you there! Give us a call and we'll have you over to the Casa!

Glad you're making the trip! It was close to being the first time in many years that you would've missed it. Right? You've made all, or close to all. What is your choice of smoke and drink for Booze Bros. night? I'm still undecided.

Yep, that's the place. I was going to suggest Hwy 50 - it's a great ride over Monarch Pass and down the Arkansas River Canyon. You fly!

Ernie, Ken, John, Dan et eux,
It looks like Judy and I are going to have to pass on CCR this year. Just too many things happening/hanging at the same time for us to feel comfortable being gone. This is probably going to be a low mileage year for me. I will look forward to hearing all the stories when you return.
Ride safe and keep the rubber side down.
God speed,
