Just wondering how many people here are from down east. I live in Halifax and the only BMW dealer this side of Quebec is in Moncton. So it is a long drive to Atlantic Motorplex. So if anyone here uses the same dealer how do you rate them for service and such?
Thanks

I have an '05 LT and have used Atlantic Motoplex for scheduled routine maintenance and warranty work. I find the the service dept. ok but not where I would want to take my bike for carte blanche repair work.
On the 18,000 mile checks they did a routine at the clutch fluid resvoir and the front brakes. and didn't clean up the excess fluid around the resvoir and lines. On my way back home, (a 250 km trip) I noticed fluid on the paint on both sides of the tank and on both knee pads. I stopped at a service stn. just off the 104 and washed it off with lots of water and wiped what I could off the resvoir and lines. When I got home everything was still clean so I decided what I washed off was excess from the work they did that just wasn't cleaned off. I checked all the lines, they were all tight. Their warranty work was ok except it was rushed.
I find their sales dept. to be excellent with an extensive BMW inventory and good friendly sales people. The parts dept. is ok but pricey.
Overall, I deal with them in all aspects except I do most of my wrenching myself mostly for cost reasons but with my previous experiences in their service dept. anything I had done there would be as a last resort and it would be rechecked carefully whenever possible.
Are there many LT riders in the maritime region? It would be good to hear from more.

Aren't all BMW parts dept's in Canada pricey?

Last year when I was working in Syndey, NS, I met an LTer with his bike from Newfoundland. He just came over on the ferry.

Yes BMW dealers are all pricy. But with that price one expects some quality workmanship. I have just got my 05 from that dealer last Oct with 33,600 klms on it. It is under warranty until end Apr 08. I took it up there on 01 Aug so they could do the 40,000 klms service the next day when the engine was cold to check the values. They suggested that I drop it off on Wednesday and pick it up on friday. Well dropped the bike off on Wednesday, the wife followed me up in the car (3 hour drive one way from my house outside dartmouth) and we went over to PEI for a couple nights. On top of the service I told them about a problem I had with dash going out which had only started to happen 3 days before I took the bike up. On Friday morning I called them to ask about the bike, they told me the service was done but they did not find the problem with the dash. I ask when the bike would be ready and they said that afternoon. Be cause if it was not going to be ready I would have taken the ferry from PEI to Pictou and went home. We drove up there from charlottetown and they said the bike was ready but they did not find the problem with the dash. I said why would you put all the tupperware back on without fixing it. They said we thought you wanted to take the bike home. Mis communication because I said I am going home but will leave the bike as it is under warranty and without the dash I have no idea my RMP, Speed, Temp, hi/low bean, turn indicators etc. Well that was Friday 03 August. My bike is still there, Today I called, they have the computer part that they think is the problem but when I called this afternoon they said we are really busy and may not get it installed today. I had a ride up with a friend of mine who is going up there for the week end. But that did not matter, Now my wife has to drive 6 hours up and back for me to get the bike. I am not happy with there customer service. They may be really busy BUT WHO HAS WAITED LONGER THE BIKES THEY ARE WORKING ON OR MINE. I know they are only open until 1 PM tomorrow so who knows. It may be next week before it is ready.
I do not think their warranty work is rushed. But we will see how things turn out. Does anyone know if this dealer or BMW canada provides an extended warrantly.

Well I got my bike back yesterday. The 40,000 klms service was completed.
They replaced the computer and the dash is working fine. They also replaced the passenger heated seat switch (would stick in one position) and replaced the rear brake rotor (rear brake was making noise). They said the rotor was lose and had a wobble so they put on a new one. All done under warranty.
I took the bike for a long ride yesterday and it is working flawless. I have no issues with it. Overall I am pleased with their work. I am just disappointed that it took 3 weeks. But being without a ride in Aug is always a disappointment.

As I understand it, although Atlantic Motoplex has several mechanics they have only 1 BMW Certified mechanic -- and given the number of us around riding LTs, I can't imagine they have much experience with these bikes.
I too have been slightly mystified by their service dept scheduling and seem to have had to wait extraordinary amounts of time. Felt like they didn't care that I was from out of town and stuck there waiting .... maybe they didn't
I have recently had a tire order mixup -- which if I was in Moncton would have been a non-issue but I had sent my son to Moncton (3.5 hrs return) specifically to pick up tires I had ordered for myself and some friends with Goldwings only to have him arrive with the wrong ones !!
Their tire prices are good/great .... but the rest is expensive !
They are great at the apparel side of things.
All in all a pretty good shop for the amount of time they spend on BMW. I expect their bread, butter (and perhaps jelly) is their Yamaha line-up, followed by Ducati & BMW.
If I had a really big problem though I think I'd be loading it up in a trailer and taking it to the US Northeast to a more experienced dealership -- like MAX BMW in Portsmouth NH. But that's just me ....... :bmw:

Had no problems with these guys. I think the biggest thing with most people is communication. I've found out a long time ago never take anything for granted especially when ordering things over the phone. As far as parts go I give them the part number if I have it when ordering. The service is generally pretty good, the staff are friendly enough. :D

by Ducati & BMW.
The only reason their tires prices are good is this place is just down the road.

Give them a call and they will give you a very good price.

While on holidays in Cape Breton my 2008 R1200RT developed the infamous EWS. Had the bike towed from Cheticamp, NS to Moncton on the friday. The tow driver had to stay overnight so that he could drop off the bike in the morning as we arrived at 11 pm. Atlantic Motoplex arranged to have the tech come in on the Saturday (his day off BTW) and had my bike repaired and washed within 90 minutes.
I would be happy to support this dealer in my future visits to the maritimes.
Kudos have been transmitted through BMW Canada as well as to the roadside assistance program who made the experience painless.
BTW the bike "broke down" the day before 60 mm fell on the Margaree area and damaged 15 bridges.
