Hi every one
After much reading of the forum, and much deliberating I to have joined the many of you who have changed From an LT to an RT I loved the LT and had done lots of trips over the three years I had it, and although not entirely convinced at the time
I bought a new Blue 07 R1200 RT....
My main concern at the time was the engine. The transition from 4 to 2 cylinders, I hope things will smooth out, I have yet to go for my first 600 service. but its growing on me more and more, especially being able to do a tight u turn with ease, and without any worries
So far I have put a large windscreen on and am getting the top box painted same colour...And Im just loving it... For those of you who are as undecided as me,,, Do it... I have no regrets
Has anybody had a Remus Exhaust on for any length of time,, lovely sound, but I have heard on a long ride they are a bit much ??

I was also amazed at how easy it is to ride at low speeds. I've never ridden a LT, but my '07RT is easier to ride at low speeds than my R1150R which was about 60lbs lighter. Even better with a passenger.
The blue is very pretty. You know they are the faster ones too!

Hello Liverpuddlian!
Congrats from another recent convert to things R1200RT! Mine gets it's 600 mile service (at 800 miles) Friday and I'm anxious to roll more on mine this weekend! Yes I do agree, Biarritz Blue is beautiful, but Titan Silver is faster!

Congrats! :)
But. I don't know how to say this gently so here goes, in straight language.
I had a Titan Silver 07 and it was fast but, my Sand Beige 07 is noticeably faster.
Sorry but this is a known fact at the factory. They just don't publish it for all of the obvious reasons.
Now now. Don't go getting all teary eyed, you guys with the silver and blue bikes can still fight it out for second fastest. :histerica
As far as the full Remus system, which I had on my Titan silver one( trying to speed it up), if you wear earplugs it is not audible at cruise.
You will notice it upon acceleration but with the baffle in it is not that loud.
I will not be installing the full system on my new bike as it is already plenty fast. But also I felt that the full system softened the mid-range a bit in favor of the top end.
My favorite setup was the Staintune(or Remus) header to eliminate the hot cat and the stock can. This gave a slightly deeper tone w/o the midrange loss.
You make take this as indisputable fact as it was tested several time on my calibrated Butt-Dyno..

I think the Piedmeont Read was even faster... so they discontinued it because the other bikes were getting jealous.

Hi Guys thanks for all your comments, I think the Blue is fast enough for me.
Just been for my 600 service now getting on for 800 miles I mentioned to the dealers about a small knock from the engine that only apparent when the throttle is just burley open sounds to me like pinking or piston slap ( scarey )
I got all the comments about have you put the rite fuel in,
and let it get run in before you start worrying, someone from sales said buy a set of ear plugs
no one seemed to take me seriously and thought I was hearing things and that it would go away on its own.... I wasn't impressed
But I road there loan bike that just about everybody has thrashed, it sounded sweeter than mine ???
This noise has been there from the start, and I know what I can hear
I am about to make a big fuss... but thought I would ask you guys first
Still love the bike to bits... Maybe Im paranoid
Any thoughts...
Regards Keith...

I've ridden bikes my whole adult life. Had some fast ones too. Took a leap of faith a while ago and marched into a BMW dealership and bought a shiny silver 07 R1200RT right on the spot (mid-life crisis thing...) I was determined to break this one in CORRECTLY for once and bit my lip for a sucky 675 miles. I held her back but did not lug her. No mistaking that this one wanted to go! I let everything seat in real peaceful like. Kept my eye on the tach like a hawk and about puked from non-stop throttle motion up and down the power-band. The 600 mile service came and went, thank God.
It had to sit for a week until another ride. New oil in the jugs. Engine warm and smooth. Going down a Missouri two lane and had to pass a 40 mph farm truck. Pulled around and dropped a gear or so and the tach was at about 5500. Quickly rolled on the throttle and OH DEAR LORD!
You're right, it's love.

I still miss my Japanese gearboxes a little.
I was also on a Missouri 2 lane road and after a car and I had stopped for another in front to make a left turn, I decided it was a great opportunity to pass the car. From a stop I pulled away hard in first gear, lifting the front wheel a few inches off the ground while I changed lanes... giving me a slight headshake (to be expected), then stayed light in 2nd. I rolled off in 3rd at 80mph. Too much fun. No ZX9R... but a real wheelie machine over 5000RPM with a passenger and topcase. Best compromise for comfort, handling and performance at all speeds especially with a passenger and luggage.
