Wow, what a great time. Lots of folks and really good grub. we just got home. When we left we were headed down I35 and we saw a sign for Cabelas and it's only 25 miles out of the way so we went. We walked around there and left for Buckies in Luling. We went to potty and walked out and saw the Great "R" cloud in the sky. Thats right, it rained on us between Luling and Gonzales. Good thing I had my mesh jacket to stop the water from creeping in. It was also nice that I got behind a cattle trailer with, you guessed it, cattle in the back. You would not believe the bike!!! I cannot even begin to describe the "dirt" that is on it. O'h well, it did cool it off from 95* to 81* and then it came back up but never above 86*.

It was good to see everyone there and hope to see ya'll soon.

It was a great time! But a word of caution: be careful when you order a salad at the Stagecoach! The chef's salad should be free if you can eat the whole thing (I couldn't nor could anyone else that I saw.)

We left headed north to go southwest, followed the GPS onto the neatest little road (3/4 lane greytop, no stripe) that took us from somewhere s/w of Killeen to 963. FM 2670 off 195 is a hidden treasure!

Temps ran from a low of 92 to a high of 104 (stopped) at a light near Killeen but it was a great ride anyhow (no rain to cool US off.)

Good to see everyone, sorry we couldn't hang around longer. We did take Dick's suggestion on the way out and paid $5 for a pit pass at the Lakefest drag boat competition in Marble Falls. Didn't see any races but did see some very high $ boats in the 'pits.' (They wanted $20 each to get in to stand in the sun and watch the races so we just wandered the pits.)

An incredibly wild group. My wilting flower sensibilities need some shade after the sunshine of these fanatics.

Great time and Great food! Is their a story here about Bruce's bike?

Yes, there is. Seems as I was pulling away from the gas pump a pick-up decided to back out of his parking stop. The truck loaded with too much sruff blocking the driver's view, the driver did not see me and backed into me. Fortunately only his trailer hitch hit the right rear bag knocking the bike out from under me. Also on the positive side, my little co-rider was in the store getting a Dublin Dr Pepper and was not on the bike at the time. Currently looks like minor damage, but will know more later this week. As for me, only a hyper-extension of the knee. Just a little swollen and a little sore.

As for the rest of the day, it was great seeing everyone again and meeting some new people as well. And, "YES" they did have fresh strawberry pie at the Koffee Kup.

We did have a pleasant surprise at the Cotton Gin in Cradell when we stopped for breakfast. John and Laurie Munson were there waiting for us. It was great seeing them and riding with them again as well.

Everyone that came down in our group made it home safely. Just the heat of the day did do a number on a couple of people. So we had more stops than usual to ensure everyone's safety.

Great seeing everyone again, and hope everyone who is going to CCR has a safe ride and a lot of fun.

Well we missed the Stagecoach and the awesome company but fortunately I have some good food and fellowship at BBAC AND Deb and I still have 1/2 of a LEMON PIE in the frig. I bet we're the only folks on South Central today that can say that and smile. Dick you were right. The meringue slid off but it still tastes great. This is the first weekend I've eaten all I wanted and still have some for tomorrow. Still another reason to grieve.

It was great to see everybody, and we sure missed the ones who couldn't join us. We skipped the pie run and headed North on our normal route back road route through McGregor and Valley Mills. It has hot hot hot on the way back, and we stopped twice to sit in a cool store and drink water. I sprayed cold camel back water on my face several times to keep my head from boiling! I just can't handle the heat like I used to. Anyway, we're looking forward to the next get together.

I'm glad I made this one too. Great time. I needed to get back so I blasted backup I-35. Traffic was heavy but it was moving pretty good so made good time.
Bruce, sorry to hear about your get off and really glad the PIT was not on board.

Well, another RTE behind us and another set of good memories for the memory bank! Enjoyed seeing everyone in Salado. Dick you were missed!!! Great company, good food, a new taste for may taste buds (tomato aspic - Grif, bet you thought I wouldn't clean the plate), and hats off to Bruce for another wonderfully planned out route. It was perfect. David, the strawberry pie was to die for and 3 of us ordered it with you and your wife in mind - wish you could have joined us but know you had a long haul back home. Was nice catching up with you at lunch and thanks again for being so sweet and cutting up my salad for me (ha ha). Tony, was good to have you join us for the trip to Hico - always nice to have you along. PIT a/k/a Sarah totally enjoyed the day and never complained once about the heat - the next biker generation in the making. I was very proud of her - we did 453.5 miles on Saturday. She loved meeting you all (since I talk about you so much) and in her words "everyone was so nice and funny!" (Told her not to make fun of Grif, he couldn't help it if he was funny.) Now Grif and Jerry, we will have to arrange for the strip, PIE and g-string thing at the next gathering so you get your moneys worth (a tad hard to do with children around). With the exception of our little accident while stopped for gas, all was well. And dear Bruce I thank you from the bottom of my heart for carrying my precious cargo for the day - a memory she will not soon forget. Looking forward to the next trip and . . . more PIE!!!

P.S. If I can get the master computer man a/k/a Bruce to help me I will hopefully have some pics to post.
