Well, you guys seem to be having different troubles with the PTT switch than I am.
:( I don't use my CB all that often, in fact, I have never communicated with anyone on it. However, (it's a 2005 LT), when I took delivery from the dealer, I began perusing this forum. From the talk, it was obvious that there was a problem with the 2005 VOICE II and the BMW CB. Turned out to be the lower cable (from plug on bike to helmet). I talked to dealer about it and they ordered a new (as in this one is supposed to work) lower cable for me and then charged me $29.00 plus tax for it. I didn't complain at the time, but should have.
A couple of days ago, while taking a ride north to Beemers & More in Ft Collins, CO, I turned the CB on (to see if I might hear the reason for a massive traffic jam on I25). I listened for awhile on ch 19 and there was some voice traffic, but no news for me, so I switched to the weather channels, listened to a couple of weather reports and then switched back to ch 19 to see if I could communicate with anyone. Imagine my surprise when the PTT button didn't cause anything to happen.
PTT just didn't work. When I first got my LT, I would occasionally be listening to the radio and while shifting, the radio would mute and static in the earphones, as if the mike had been keyed. I finally noticed that I was hitting the PTT button when shifting. Duh! Modified my grip to eliminate that.
Back to the problem. PTT button when depressed, does nothing. (Kinda like me :) ).
What is the most common problem area with the cable as it goes to the VOICE II unit from the standard left handle bar mounting? I hate the idea of removing all the tupperware (I've never done it) just to look at this stupid cable.
Help!!!:o
