LOUD PIPES - The Florida State HOG rally was in town this past week and weekend!! I felt kind of out of place riding, what with my riding boots, pants and jacket with armor, and OMG a helmet too!!

Idiot squids who can't take a corner for crap, but as soon as they see straight the MUST loft the front wheel into the air as they blow through multiple lanes of traffic. I had one yesterday on a CBR1000RR that I passed on the outside on a 2 lane S-curve freeway onramp... driving my Toyota Sequoia!! ....and as I entered the freeway about 500 yards up he was coming past me on the left with the front end in the air while we were still in the merge lane for the freeway! He held it for another 1/4 mile or so, then dropped down and proceeded to weave through traffic in all three lanes at about 90 mph.

Are you going to be sorry you asked!!!
I am tired of hearing that: it is always someone elses fault.
someone else should discipline my children
driving is a RIGHT and it is a simple task
one must always be politically correct
manners and civility no longer exist
Is that enough to start things off?

According to the December 2005 issue of Rider, West Hollywood has recently implemented a zero-tolerance policy against loud pipes. The first violation gets a "fix-it" ticket, while the second is a full infraction.
While I'm leery of the slippery slope theory, I have to say I wish more municipalities took such an active approach to this problem. Twice today I heard a stupidly loud V-twin roar by (in a 35-mph zone), setting off car alarms in its wake. Just, why?
Oh, and the magazine also contains a letter to the editor commenting on a recent multi-bike road test they ran, submitted by none other than our own KBandit. I'll have to hassle him when we meet tomorrow morning for that drink. If the uber-conservatives suddenly feel a vague uneasiness while the liberals feel a slight shift in the force, now you know why. :)

Tired off,
People only talking about their rights and never about their obligations.
People always blaming something or someone else for their own stupidity (hot coffee in your lap at Mickey D anyone??)
Morons having drivers licenses.
Crying kids in supermarkets, why do parents bring them knowing they are whiners??
Oh well, I vented enough for now I guess  :D

I am tired of cold rainy days that keep me from riding. Mostly, I am just thankful to be vertical.

Tired of...
People in Supermarkets and "Family" restaurants that whine about kids that whine.
Many years ago, when my daughter was only about 18 months old....a guy in a family restaurant cussed out my wife for "not keeping her kid quiet".
I guarantee this wouldn't have happened if I had been there.
Not everyone has or wants a Nanny to dump their kids on. It's called parenting. You conceived the kid, you take the kid to the store with you. Your responsibility!
Sorry...Don't mean to come down directly on K1200ltrider's statement but it got me thinking that was probably this guy's attitude. I read that line and it brought back the anger I felt. Kids are the greatest blessing. If one chooses not to have them, OK but I think they are missing some of lifes greatest lessons. Now that I am half way through the process of raising my two kids, I've learned empathy for that parent with the whiney kid...and it goes right past..

Heh, heh...
Grandbabies are their own people, too! Heck, my grandson, Gator is only 11 months old and sometimes he is a handful in the grocery store so we just take him out to the car. Sometimes he is an angel. But all of the time he is just being a baby.
Haven't met the perfectly behaved child yet...
Oh, yeah, Gator has learned a new trick...if ya growl at him, he growls back!!! What a kid!

What bugs me? People jumping to conclusions or trying to bolster their own arguments without checking their facts first. :)
In this particular case, the 79-year-old lady suffered third degree burns requiring skin grafts and a week in the hospital. That was after McDonalds had been cited numerous times for serving their coffee between 20-50 degrees above what is considered normal temperature for hot coffee, and after they settled over 700 other incidents of scalding coffee burns. This old lady only sued after McDonalds absolutely refused to cover her medical bills.
Yes, coffee is supposed to be served hot, but there is a difference between hot and excessively scalding. If a hot beverage is served so hot that you can't drink it at all, that's a problem. If the company ignores all prior warnings and flat refuses to rectify a known dangerous situation, and then someone gets hurt, then there is a clear case for legal action. You don't think that a company that measures out the exact cost of every ingredient that goes into their burgers in order to maximize profits can be bothered to turn down the knob on their coffee makers just a little?
What happens when we actually have clear proof that a failed rear drive, known about by the manufacturer, directly causes a death or deaths? Will people just say "Of course, all motorcycles are dangerous" and shake their heads? What if it's one of us on this board, or someone you have met and ridden with?
Oh, and the punitive damage award of 2.7 million dollars amounted to only two days worth of coffee sales for McDonalds, and was later reduced on appeal to $480,000 which is just a few hours of coffee sales for the big clown. Even that amount was reduced further under a confidential settlement after McD's had lost the case and was ordered to pay.
I agree that individuals need to take more responsibility for their own actions, but so do businesses. I also think many lawsuits are frivolous, weak, and just designed to make a few bucks for some poor sap that doesn't want to work to earn his keep. But checking the facts in this case shows that it was justified.

Yeah, but how do you get to the grandkid stage without doing the parent thing? Maybe that's what nephews are for. :)

Thanks again Ken. Well said. The McDonalds lawsuit is always one that gets used as an example of personal responsibility. However, after facts are checked it is an example of corporate irresponsibility. Some will refuse to acknowledge even after getting the facts.
I used to hate getting a quick breakfast at Mickey D's. I could eat my silly breakfast sandwich, go back outside and have a smoke and get ready to ride and still not be able to sip more than the tiniest bit of coffee. I would just have to throw it away(Pre BMW and cupholder). That stuff was fierce. My wife puts shocking amounts of cream in hers so she was fine. For a while now it has been fine, possibly because of that lawsuit.

For more fun on McDonalds watch the movie "SUPER SIZE ME"
Then ask me if the clown is really harmless. Even if it were only half true would be scary. Worth the rental fee.
