LOSE IT !

I mean, regardless of what platform you're on… selecting a post to view in a new page w/ that damend banner popped up in the way offsets any value it may offer.

Rant off…

Seriously though - - - - making the banner user defined/optional would be nice.

when you're on a DB page AND see a post of interest AND move the mouse pointer to the link for it… a synopsis of the link appears on the display as a short blurb about the post content.

Opening a new page for the post of interest (SOP arond here)… a drop down menu (via a right click) appears IS BLOCKED BY THE SYNOPSIS BANNER !

Some "may" like it… but why couldn't it be an OPTION which could be turned OFF ?.

Richard,

What browser are you using?

In Safari, if I put the mouse over a thread title I get the preview text just below it, and if I then right (control) click on a thread title, the preview text disappears and the contextual menu pops up instead. Also, I can Command (Apple key) click to automatically open a link in a new tab, CTRL click to get the contextual menu, or Option (Alt) click to download the link (if it is a pic or pdf, for example).

All of these options are explained in the Status bar at the bottom of the page. For example, placing the mouse over a link shows as _Open "http://link~" in a new window_ in the Status bar, while then pressing the Option key changes that to _Download "http://link~"_ and pressing the Command key changes that to _Open "http://link~" in a new tab_.

So try various key combinations and watch the Status bar for changes.

What browser are you using? I cannot reproduce this behavior.

Richard,

What browser are you using? And Eljeffe, too.

I am using FIREFOX v. 1.0.4 on either a G4 eMac w/ OS10.2.8 or iMac G5 w/ OS10.4.X

Any responses addressing the availibilty of this "synopsis banner" as an OPTION only ?

TNX, rs

It's not something that can be set up as an option. It's a built-in feature of vBulletin.

I am using Firefox 1.0.7 on Mac 10.4.3, so this must have been a bug that was addressed by Mozilla since 1.0.4. I suggest you upgrade to the latest version of Firefox.

If you update the G5 and it goes away, then you have your answer. :)
