Answer: I traded my '05 LT for a '07 RT. Blue/dark lowers, all options. Also the large topcase painted to match. Shock-to-the-system: price from the factory was $405 less than MSRP!!! Also, the radio comes iPod/MP3 ready. The build date is July 2nd, 2007 and it arrived at the dealer on the 31st. I paid for it Wednsday and it was delivered Friday a few hours before I had to leave for work. I hope to drive it later today. I wasn't ready to drive a new (only 6 miles on odometer) bike in a light drizzle before the tires are scrubed in. I put bar-backs, mirror tethers, a migsel base for mounting I-Pass, etc.,and the large foot on the side stand, so far. I have front and rear peg lowerers and a dash surround, and front fender extender to put on yet.
Gotta go,

Why did you trade your LT for the RT? Just curious because I am trying to decide which one I want. I am going to test ride them both this weekend hopefully. I want the LT to make the SO happy but I suspect I would be happier with the more flickable RT, I also love the boxer engine, I grew up with them.

Read my comments from 4 months ago and see what I'll be doing this Saturday (another thread - 600 mile break in). I'm a solo rider, so my wants, needs and conclusions might be different than your own. Enjoy the ride(s)!

I ride two up practically always. We switched from a GL1800 to the RT. My wife has no complaints. 700 miles? Sure, let's go, is her reply. In a day.

I was originally looking for a 1150RT( but not seriously) when I saw two LT's at Chicago. The last LT I knew of was the 1100's. The RT's they had didn't fit me well and I was intrigued by the 1200LT. I wanted more wind protection than my H-D cop bike. A used(351 miles) '02 LTC became my new toy. The wife loved it. I owned it for 17 months. On the day I had the 12K service done I got hit by an SUV. Almost a year later I tried a R1200RT but it felt awkward. They (Tag Sport) had a used (5900 miles) '05 LT. I didn't try it. I loved my '02 LT and the '05's are improved so I just bought it. When I picked up the LT the next day I found out that the RT wasn't awkward, I was. Plus my wife never trusted my leg to hold up an 853 lb bike with our 500 lbs too. I'm stronger now, but I wanted to go to the new boxer. Besides, if the wife isn't going to ride with me then I don't need an LT. The LT has things that the RT doesn't. I'm short so turning around the LT was a challenge at times, especially with both brakes coming on at the same time. The LT was the only bike that the handle bars were right where I wanted them. I've added bar backs to the RT but I wish the bars were about one inch closer( I'll get used to it).
Ride them both. Try the GT, it might be a better fit for you and your needs(desires). I'm glad I got the RT although I not really used to it yet. I'll need a Rick Mayer seat, but if I had kept the LT I would've had to change that seat too.
Good Luck,
