I'm new to this gadget forum and to the LT. I would like to talk with my better half while riding, what does the job at the best price and where should I get it? I'm not familiar with the electronic parlance in this section, so I bet the answer is right in front of me but I don't understand the language yet. Thanks

:( Just DON'T do a chatterbox .... Garbage.

After one of those mentioned above ... Went ahead and fully intgrated all my electric farkles into one unit. A Baehr comm system. :D

Quite pricey ... But it is a "DO ALL" sulution for more than helmet to helmet chatter.

The best thing to do is *try* to be patient and read as much as you can in the 'intercom' forum here.

I have an IntaRide RP1 that I really LOVE...and I have everything integrating into it (intercom, cell phone, GPS, LT's stereo w/ iPod), and amongst this winter's projects includes taking the leap into FRS/GMRS integration. I only have $400 total into the thing including upgrading the speakers and adding much-needed inline volume controls. Having said all that...the only US online resource for IntaRide just went belly-up. Bummer!

So, the way I sees it...here are your options. Nady has some real low-priced stuff. A few say they've had luck with the units. Personally, I think their stuff will cause you more aggrevation than it's worth...but to each his/her own. After that, you have the Collett Platinum and the StarCom1. I think those units are your best bet. When all is said-and-done, you have between $250 and $400 tied up into the entire thing. If you have more money to spend than that, looking into the AutoCom stuff. Some folks like it...I personally know a few people that rue the day they bought their AutoComs.

Lastly, (and this deserves a paragraph all to itself), is the Baehr LT-specific intecom unit. Hands-down it's simply the best. But, so is the price tag. You're going to spend $1,000 to $1,500 . . . and I'm pretty sure it'll be closer to the top end of that estimate. But it is the King-of-the-Hill of all intercoms.

You'l notice I didn't mention any of the BMW units. There's probably a reason for that. :o

I just ordered an Intaride directly from their web site (intaride.com) when the US distributer went belly-up (last Thursday to be precise). Interestingly I paid about $40 less by ordering direct.
