Bakup Backrest and Russell seat

Do I need to get the Russell Backrest or can I continue to use my Bakup with the Russell Solo?

Keith, according to the lady that answered the phone earlier this week the BAKUP will work satisfactorily with the Russell seat. You may want to call to confirm. HTH...

The Bakup will continue to work as long as you have a separation between the seats. It will continue to put pressure on the front of the pillion seat and even more so if the pillion seat is rebuilt with extra padding. Personally, I never liked the damage the Bakup does to the front of the pillion seat especially after I had it redone in custom leather. Adios, Bakup. However, Russell offers a custom, matching backrest and one with a unique quick release that is very convenient if your pillion doesn't appreciate leaning into a piece of backrest steel now and again yet easily installed when riding one-up without damaging any leather. The availability of that backrest from Russell is my only regret in choosing Rick Mayer for my custom saddles. I would go for the custom backrest and sell the Bakup given your opportunity.
