Steve Rowe is in Elgin with a bent front rim (hit an armadillo at 60mph) and could use a trailer to come pick him up. I gave him Steve Shreeve's phone number to see if Steve knows anyone with a trailer, while I post this to the forums. Rim apparently won't hold air, but the gas station he found doesn't have air anyway!! Tire is flat. When he called me, he wuz at this pay phone 512.285.5989.
I will say that JackD is coming to Austin by plane this evening, and will pick up a rent car and he and Steve may work out something. Anyway, if you have a suggestion, try seeing if you can reach Steve on that pay phone.
Thanks all.

Update --- it's Channing to the rescue. He and Steve have made contact and Channing is supplying a trailer to haul the bike to the hotel where Steve will be this week. They'll then work out how to get the bike to Lone Star Tuesday.
THANKS, Deacon.

Guess they don't have armor plated critters in Georgia to dodge, huh? :rotf:
Or could he have possibly been confused from that other thread that said to aim right for the middle of it? :D
Glad Steve is okay, cause anything that can bend a rim can break a skull too.

Steve,
The wheel / tire / bearings / axle are boxed up with a waybill on them and ready to be dropped off. Set to ship to the good Deacon's residence as discussed, pending green light from you.
Package would arrive Tuesday afternoon.

He called my house first, unfortunately, I don't have a trailer anymore. Nor a cell phone. The dayem thang got bumped off my belt exiting la trucka Friday and landed in a puddle. Another victim of all this dayem rain. I let it dry out, put the battery in it this morning and no love. There went all my phone numbers. Sheesh. This rain is killing me and it would seem our local wildlife is takng it's toll, too.

Dayem - lost all them personal phone numbers?!?! Big time bummers.
Lissen - there is an outfit here in Boerne that independently works on cell phones. Chuck Wetzel turned me onto 'em last year. I think they have a bidness in San Antonio also, out at the Embassy Oaks complex. They partnered with KTSA in the recent 'care packages for the troops overseas' program and their CEO said they do a lot of phone resurrections and repairs, etc. I gotta go see 'em about my Blackberry - want me to ax 'em how successful they are at solving 'wet puzzles'???

Only thought there is that once you tell your insurance company, it usually is charged as a collision, with whatever effect on premiums that may have for the next three or so years. Don't ask me how I know. :(

A quick note..
Steve's ok.. I was shocked that the wheel didn't crack.. the aluminum, or whatever it's made of bent pretty good.. looked like about an inch or so out of round...on the Starboard side.
Steve said the front hopped pretty good, then the rear..
He promised to post when he got a chance... maybe tamale... He and his buds were headed to Bone Daddy's... seems they have good food there!

It will be refreshing to have full coverage again... when I want it. And not play the Pocket Roam game. Besides, since you know everybody in the whole world, all I need is your number!:D

I'm just glad I didn't go down. I hit whatever it was just about a mile and half east of Elgin. I knew something was different because it was taking a little more input to get the bike to go around a curve. When I slowed down for the first light at Elgin I knew I was in trouble, when I got to the second light I had to stop and thats when I saw that something let all the air out of the tire. Here's the damage.
Currently waiting on response from Progressive on whether they will do a wheel replacement.

Dang!! Just thought - I coulda included it in the CCR donation package I just sent off to Jay. :( Course, there'd be a mad scramble at the silent auction table; butt heck, it mighta brought a coupla hen eggs and a barnyard guinea.
Ah well .... come on Sara!!!! :thumb:

Someone sent a box to my home for repair of the bike... interesting... It arrived in good shape but is still boxed up at the moment.
Apparently the guys are checking out "The Tilted Kilt"... http://www.tiltedkilt.com/ Something about looking for a place to get some good beer...I think.
Also, Steve and the Ins. dude came by my place to check on the bike to decide if they would bless him with a new wheel, tire, etc... I do not know the results of that "discussion".
I suppose we'll know tamale..

Okay, I heard ya. Now will you please stop yelling. ;)
Tony and I have worked out a deal for what he has shipped to Channing's place. :thumb: If we can get together tomorrow evening, we'll get Red Rover off the trailer where she has been embarassing sitting for the last three days, get the wheel and tire mounted and back closer to where I am. I sure have missed having her close by.
I owe a deep debt of gratitude to Channing, Dick, Grif, Steve (can't believe I typed that) and Tony for getting me out of really ugly situation. What could have been really ugly, ends up being just a leetle bump in the road. Thanks guys one and all.

Steve (and anyone else who may need it):
You might want to send your damaged wheel in for repair and keep it as a spare. Found this link to Frame Straight (http://www.framestraightsystem.com/Motorcycle%20Wheel%20Repair%20Priceing.htm) and thought of you. :D
I've not used them, so I cannot vouch for them, but it may be a decent path to investigate.

Thanks Tony. We looked at that link this week while at the office. The wheel and tire are on the way back to Hotlanta. I'm going to pull the tire and then send the wheel in and have it fixed.
