I don't like the furnished autocomm setup for the helmet. Lousy speakers and obtrusive microphone. I use earbuds and would like to find a small microphone that I can glue or velcro in and just run the wire along the earbud wire. Have the PTT switch. Anyone know of one that would work? Preferably available at Radio Shack.

Is the obtrusive element the tubular arm that mounts the lollipop mic on the end? Or, is it actually the mic? Those AutoCom mics for the price are actually pretty good. If you select an alternate such as the aviation "sigtronics" or "David Clark" you will spend much much more and it will be NO Better! And I am not talking about noise reduction systems either......... just the "electric mic" or electrec as the ads say. Impedance matching is always a possible problem too but you might get lucky. If impedance throws you I would recommend staying with the AutoCom mic. Many of us just use the mic button itself velcro'd to our helmet. You don't need that tubular arm at all unless you ride with an open face or the modular face shield up?
Does any of this help or am I just confusing the issue?
