Here's a great Christmas present idea to give your partner: the Bosch IXO (http://www.bosch-ixo.com/uk-en/start/index.htm) cordless screwdriver. I have a much heavier/bulkier cordless screwdriver but it's so heavy and bulky that I never use it when working on the bike. This little gadget is sooo much neater, I'm sure I'll use it every time I take the tupperware off my bike. And when replacing it of course (yes, it has both forward and reverse gears). 12x single- and 2x double-headed bits are provided, including T-20 and T-25 torx bits (the latter used for most fairing screws). Heck - it's small enough to carry with you as part of the bike's tool kit! Even better: the maximum torque spec (2 - 3 Nm) is perfect for the fairing screws. No chance of over-torquing anything during assembly.
Bosch say it's the first cordless screwdriver with lithium-ion battery, which apparently has the benefit of no self-discharge and no memory effects, so you can store it on the charger and it'll always be charged and ready to go. It even has a little amber spot-light at the front for those awkward screw locations under the bike! And, when the trigger is not depressed, the chuck locks, so you can apply more torque manually, using the IXO as a conventional screwdriver.
You can shop around for the best price on the internet, but I picked one up at B&Q, so saved on postage. They're offering 10% off everything in their stores until Sunday, November 20 so you can buy an IXO from them currently for £25.18.
