I am on a trip and presently visiting some relatives at Fort leonard wood , mo. Leaving tomorrow to head to Arkansas and then onto Tupelo for the Natches Trace back up to Nashville then home. I am looking at taking 65 down to route 7 in Arkansas. Rt 7 looks like a nice road on the map and hopefully have some nice scenery. But you can't tell much from a map. can anyone tell me about Rt. 7? A good friend had mentioned the road to me before I left on the trip but did not elaborate. Thanks

Hey, Marc - after running Route 7, you'll brag about it to your friends. It's truly a great road. Coupla caveats - logging trucks in AR are rather king of the road - watch for 'em. The other are the livestock haulers - they tend to clean out the sh!t and shinola while on the move, if you know why I mean!! Gets very slickery in that goo. Pretty easy to recognize tho - it's brown streaks on grey!!!!

If you're into vintage autos, there is a nice leetle museum in Petit Jean National Park. Plenty of signs to point the way. It's near Dardenelle. And for a pucker-factor-9 ride up the mountain, and back down again, check out Mt. Nebo; just off Hwy 7 near Dardenelle also, IIRC.

Should be plenty of replies to this, Marc. Enjoy a safe ride.

Hwy 7 is a nice road to ride. Beautiful scenery, good pavement, lots of sweeping curves, some tight ones but not what you would call a technically difficult road. There is usually not much traffic, especially in the middle of the week, but do watch out for all types of trucks. I would offer to show you some of the really twisty back roads, but I’m getting ready to leave early Thursday on my way to the Black Hills. Other good roads in the area are: hwy 76 in MO. between Branson and Roaring River State Park and hwy’s 23 & 16 in AR.

Wife and I just took this route. It was our first long ride on the beemer. Completely awesome scenery and peg scraping riding from Eureka Springs to Hot Springs via Mt. Magazine. Enjoyed the Ozarks, Boston and Ouchita mountain ranges.

Here is the map:

While in Eureka Springs we stayed in the old motel where we spent our honeymoon 30 years ago. We couldn't believe it was still there.

A ride on 7 is not complete without a slice of "Company Coming" pie at the Cliff House.

we stoped and had a great lunch at the OzarkCafe in Jasper (I think) . Built in 1909 and has the same ofiginal diner/cafe style inside.
