To All:

I am not interested in utilizing the intercom system on my bike. All I really want to do is install some speakers in my helmet and listen to the radio/CD/an MP3 player I hook up.

Which plug/cord do I need just to be able to do that? I can't make sense out of the Com Manual.

Thanks to all who reply.

I think you're still going to have to install a headset in your helmet to do what you want. That is, if you want to plug into the stereo system on the bike. You can install regular headphone speakers, the radio shack titaniums are popular, if you want to plug into a portable ipod, pda or mp3 player.

Why not just get some Shure earplug style earphones that will plug right into your MP3 player. http://www.shure.com/psm/earphones/default.asp

Gene,

At CCR this year, I had a set of custom ear plugs made at the E.A.R. Inc. booth. I have been very happy with the fit. Wore them for the 16 hours of a SS 1000 here recently, only taking them out at some of the refueling stops.

Reason I bring these up, is they offer a version with a set of hollow tubing inserted and connected to a accoustic device. Plugs directly into your MP3 player. One of the guys on the SS 1000 had those, couldn't say enough good things about the sound quality. Going that route, you have the benefits of a custom made plug, along with high quality sound. I will be upgrading mine to allow me to hear the music as well.

Their product is better than their website design and navigation! This should get you close (https://www.earinc.com/p2-music-competition.php) and from there you can call them to check on your options for getting a custom mold made.

Good luck.

I found a lower cord which plugs into the BMW (6 pin) communication connection with matching set of helmet speakers at Sierra Electronics' booth at the international motorcycle show in Houston.

http://www.sierra-mc.com/default.asp (Part number is IMC-BHS-10)

I haven't purchased this yet, but the folks at the booth said it would fit and the plug looked correct. Price is only $80.00.
