We went for a little ride early this evening, picking up state route 13 in Somerset and rode it down to Athens. I recommend this route for your consideration. Not nearly the # of tight twisties as route 555, but tons of sweepers and sufficient twisties to make it fun. Overall, an interesting ride -- nice scenic views, interspersed with some very, very old towns.

The first several miles south of Somerset were especially nice. Over most of the route the pavement is perfect; there are some patched sections down near Glouster.

Enjoy.

Hey Howard,
Thanks, always looking to add to the route selection in Ohio.
We still on for the 28th? Maybe we can fit this one in.

We still on for the 28th? Maybe we can fit this one in.Yes, it's on my calendar. But to paraphrase the Michael J. Fox character in "The American President", I tell all my riding buddies that nothing is definite until the morning of a scheduled ride. Translation: I want to do it, it's on my calendar to do it, but don't be peeved if I call you the night before and say "uh, I can't make it." It's nothing personal, it's just the way things are at this point -- it's summer, teacher-wife likes to go places on the weekends, etc.

For tight, more technical/difficult riding you'll like 555. For easier but still fun riding you'll like 13. Joe's favorite route 164 is like 555, IMO. Some day I want to ride all of 164, not just the stretch that I did with Joe and Jsciullo a few months ago.
