I changed my low beam HID today with the new one from Fashtek. My original HID would lite up sometimes. This morning I had to turn the key on and off about seven times before the HID would fire. Since the ballast was located under the nose cone, I had to strip the side panels off, and loosen the nose cone to slip the old ballast out (I just hate stripping the bike, mostly messing with the mirrors and Aeroflow windshield).
When I installed the new HID and tested everything, the high beam did not work. After lunch and a couple of beers, I got out the Cylmer manual, it did not show much with the headlight assembly, so I got out the bmw manual. The bmw manual had a picture and mentioned the ground piece (that I saw just hanging). I connected it and the high beam worked! I must of disconnected it when I pulled off the headlight cover.
I did notice a difference between the HID bulbs. The old bulb had the igniter (?) piece on top of the bulb, where the new bulb has the igniter piece below the bulb. It only goes in one way. Well, everything is back together and working. I am now just waiting for the battery tender to bring the battery up to full charge.
