Last night they officially announced that the US Grand Prix F1 race won't be returning next year, however, we WILL be getting a MotoGP race!
Motorcycles first raced at Indy Motor Speedway in 1909, two years before the first Indy 500. They've been teasing us with demo runs the past couple years, but now it's official.... they're coming!!!!

Not to brag, but two years before Rossi and Hayden get THEIR chance, Dick Rothermel and I left footpeg (actually floorboard) scrapings on that very track when we snuck on after class, teaching the "reinstated after 55 years" Indiana State Police Motor Unit.
Now if I can just convince Repsol, AGV, Yamaha, Suzuki and Dunlop to give me a couple million in endorsement dollars, I'll be set!
(PS, you shoulda' seen Rothermel hanging off that Police Road King and dragging a knee...)

I haven't left footpeg scrapings, but I left a footpeg in turn three! The Goldwing Touring Assoc had a big rally here three years ago and my parents rode theirs out from CO. One day they got to do a lap around the track, so I left work (2 blocks from the track) and rode around it with them on my 1940 harley knucklehead (see my avatar pic).
"Entropy" as she's known, lived up to her name as she shed her left footpeg in turn three. It was a very high speed turn, I think we were doing almost 30 mph, so I was able to stop and reattach it without going into the wall or anything!
One of the local charity rides does a lap around the track each year as well, but I'm not into the "3-billion of your closest friends" riding so I've never done that. Your ride sounds like much more fun!!!

I left all my marks down the road at IRP.
Actually ones a 250 record that still stands, cause no one fast rides 250's anymore:).
And another caused a broken frame:eek:

they just started running Speedway bike races again at IRP (now called.... well, I dunno, it just changed names again for the second time in a year!). All my buddies drag race out there as well. It's a great place to spend a noisy evening!

Now if ROAD AMERICA woiuld get off their pocketbooks we all could see the fastest in the world open up on the best track in the US. 4 miles 2 fast sections, blind corner, a kink, fast carosel, great food, and you can go ANYWHERE on the track with a close view. But "sigh" RA doesnt have the guts to change the track to FIM rules. Well, I gues they will have to ride on a big FLAT track that has money.

My son and I will be there in Grandstand E (Turn 1) for qualifying and races.
Otherwise wandering about from Friday thru Sunday. We're staying at the Marriot out East at the 70 and 465 intersection. I'm only riding as far as Cincinnati. My son is a non rider and we'll be in his car at Indy.
Can't make the Indy Mile Saturday night due to the Buckeye-USC game. Priorities you know:)

I believe the Flat Track Race is Friday night. At least that is what I bought the tickets for.
