Well, today is my birthday. So far, it has not been so great. I took Aleve this AM because I my legs were aching too bad to walk on my tread mill... never did get on the tread mill (needed to get to the office). Being reminded of how old I am getting is bad enough, but it is raining again... so I wont even get to ride my bike today. Looks like I will need to go to lunch at the restaurant that has the cute little 21 y/o that flirts with me... she always makes me feel younger :)

Hey, Happy B'Day!!! Go here: http://www.aarp.com

And remember, that 21 yr old waitress could be your daughter! Yeah, I know. Kills it for me, too.

Went to the Optometrists the other day. Flirted with the pretty gal at the counter - she's early twenties, I'd guess.

I left, but immediately realized I had left my glasses on the counter - did a quick about face, and went back in.

Just in time to hear the gal say to her friend, "He's cute, for an older guy!".

Quickest ego inflate/deflate I have ever experienced...

Evidently they are trying to minimize the 50th birthday fallout at the office. This is a pic of what my employees did to my office before I arrived this AM.

See? Proves that 50 is nothing (but then, I am just a 47 year old puppy). There's not even any black in there, nor any tombstones... :D

I just realized it says "Senior Member" by user name.... geeze.

And I did go to the place where the 21 y/o works for lunch... we didn't get seated in her area... but she did send me a text message wishing me a happy birthday... oh well, I guess a "text message" is just a way of introducing me to my new reality :(

Happy Birthday!

I cant even remember back to my 50th! Seems I gave myself a solo mc trip to Alaska for my 50th; what else besides the text message are you gonna get?

Sheesh, 50 seems so young now! And 75 doesn't seem that old any more! Funny how our point of view changes with age. Dr. gave me a script for Meloxicam (a mild anti-inflamitory/NSAID) for knee pain and said "You should probably be taking something like this anyway...." As if he knew that most joints ache at this age!

Well, if you were down-under, you'd be old enough to join Ulysses today as a senior member! I'm 6 months off the turning point, and still a junior...! We all have to grow up sometime, or so somebody told me. :histerica
Very Happy Birthday!!

Dean:
Sorry I missed your birthday yesterday. Hope you had a happy one. I'm going to be 55 in September and have the usual aches and pains too. I also have a friend who is going to be 90 in November. He is still riding his bike daily (a Triumph) and skis in the winter. He also has a small welding business to "keep him busy". He's my inspiration. My friend's wife died last year at 86. She rode her own bike all her life up until about 10 years ago and skied regularly.

I think that the secret is to learn how to adapt to the changes and accept them gracefully. Hang in there, it can still get better!

As was said in "GI Jane" (I think): "Pain is your friend..........it let's you know you're not dead!"

Well guys and gals... I am still here... and I didn't even have to call the suicide prevention hotline! If I don't get my blood sugar down, I may have to go the emergency room though! I ended up with two cakes... and no black balloons (I think I got all those when I turned 40).

On the mushy side... I have some great friends that did their best to make sure I had a good time yesterday... it was once said by a wise person that friends are the family you get to choose. I must say I have some good friends/family that I really thank God for... one of the many things I had to be thankful for on my 50th birthday.

Thanks for all the good wishes!
