Downsize Question-Any F800 Owners out there?

Has anyone gone for these models, FST over the KLT? Just curious. Mama's not riding anymore and they've piqued my interest. 6'2" and 240lbs. Would it be a mistake to downsize?

After our LT was totaled in a accident the wife doesn't want to ride anymore but I still wanted to. Bought a 800ST this spring and am enjoying it very much. It is not a luxo tourer the LT is but if your willing to give up all the amenities its a very fun bike. http://f800riders.org/forum/default.asp can get all your questions answered here, lots of European members who have had the bike for a year already. They will tell you its strengths and weaknesses truthfully and can tell you where to get all the farkles for it

I loved the looks of it in the showroom. Was shocked not to see the traditional final drive. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

The motorcycle magazines are pretty wild about it. Looks like a nice bike. Wouldn't mind having one to beat around on, myself.

I recently bought a 2007 F800 ST. My 2007 K1200GT was in for service and I had the St as a loaner bike. I must trell you that the 800 is a pretty awesome machine. 85HP, stable as hell on the freeway and at high speeds. It is comfortable and nimble and has an even power band all through acceleration. Mine is fully loaded and has bags. I bought it during the promo of 4.9%. I use it as my commuter bike and the GT I use for trips and two up.

I disagree with someones comments that the 800 was buzzy. It is like a mini K1200 in that it is real smooth, you can see out of the mirrors and fell the 85hp at all speeds. I have owned a lot of BMW's and this is by far a "fun" bike to ride. I searched all the reviews before I bought it and could not find any serious negative reviews other than some comments about price. Given the innovative design and build, I feel it was priced right. The ST has a a more comfortable riding position, I like the rear rack and bags and full fairing. The bike will easily take you on multi state rides. I am getting somewhere in the 50+mph range.

Cornering is a breeze and it is amazing how a smaller lighter bike like this becmes so stable on the freeway and at high speed.
