Mine got named the Lunch Truck because every time I take a long ride, my wife sends me off with cookies and brownies. So when we stop for a break, the trunk opens up and out comes the lunch! Also, I have a tendency to ride a couple of hundred miles for lunch.

My bike is called "MEINBYK," and it sometimes rides in my "BYKTRLR," which is pulled by "MEINTRK." Three guesses as to what the personalized license plates on each vehicle say :).

I was rolling through the gears one day just after getting her and I thought to myself "Ohhhhhhhh, kkkkkkkkkkkk" (as if saying Ohhhhhh, baby! :D ). Thus she earned the name "Oh, Kay".
It was really hard on me when I dropped her since she has a name and all.

Officially "U-99" but in the first couple months when I was learning to handle the weight and dropped her twice I started calling her the "Pig." As in I going out on the road and wrestle the pig around. New that I'm more comfortable she is no longer a pig but a greyhound.

The LT's official name is "Emil". Named by the original owner, and left it at that out of respect for him. He's quite a guy and has been through a lot. But, my original name for it was the Spruce Goose because it will eventually fly, but it takes a while to get it there. After getting more accustomed to it, I gave it another name, "das Schlepper Boot", or the tug boat

I've only had mine one day and she hasn't screamed out a name to me yet. That is why my sig has (TBNL) in it. It is for "To Be Named Later". I was thinking Die Blau Frau (the Blue Lady) just because it rhymes, but it seems too generic. I'm sure she'll let me know what she wants to be called soon enough.
I am enjoying this thread, though.

I resisted (or rather, just didn't think about) naming my LT until I saw my own shadow going down the road one day. Yes, we were trailering the bike, but it looks like a riderless bike (that's where the "ghost" part comes into play) is following us.
I took this picture. The bike is gray, the bike's shadow is gray, and I'm gray. That's where I got "Gray Ghost" from. I also like the alliteration. :)

Mine's called Shadowfax, come to think of it, all my bikes have been Shadowfax since about 1982, when I read Lord of the Rings for the first time.
Bout time I came up with something new, but is it safe to rename a bike? I know it's bad luck to rename a boat.....
Yup! I don't see one either!

The Behemoth or Battlestar Galactia if I am in a good mood. Right at the moment with the thing in bits and more problems appearing the names are not suitable for a public forum. But all will be well soon and I will be back on the road soon.

My last bike was a Harley 95th Anniversery Fatboy. It was burgundy and gold and being a wine snob... I mean lover, I named the bike Syrah.
Well my 2000 KLT is also burgundy ( Canyon Red technically) so I decided to name it " Second Glass".

Never really found a name for either LT. I bought my first LT while living in Wales, and was looking for a Welsh translation of whale or killer whale but as usual, Welsh words have too many consonants and not enough vowels so I didn't like any of the options. My wife started calling it the Mistress, and I looked for a German translation of that word, but nothing quite had the same connotations as the English word, and German words can also be tongue-twisters.
I still think Orca is a good name for a black LT, especially if you painted all the lower silver bits to white, covered the knee panels in white vinyl, and replaced the trunk rack with a whale tail piece. :D Somehow, my wife didn't want to ride on that bike? http://68.178.194.211/gallery/data/524/dunno.gif
Haven't named the GT yet either, but I was thinking about getting a license plate that says Praxis. It's not quite a name, more of an ancient Greek philosophy that proposes that learning by doing is just as important as learning by reading or thinking. It's sort of a reminder to stop thinking and just do it, whatever it may be, and to occasionally step away from the keyboard and just go riding. http://www.motorcyclefolly.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/bike.gif

My favorite name so far is the from the guy that named his brown LT "Arnold Ziffel" - for the pig on Green Acres.
I sometime call mine 'the beast'. Or, if I am chacing a really good rider on a sport tourer, the 'fat lady that can really dance'.

Leaving spots of oil everywhere I stopped . I discovered it wile stopped at Aerostich in Duluth MN. I might just start calling that it SPOT , because it likes to mark it's territory ...Patric ...

LT
The legendary weapon of Odin, Gungnir. Gungnir was a Dwarven magical javelin given to Odin by Loki, which never misses its mark, and always returns to Odin's hand..
GS
Mjolnir is the most fearsome weapon in the arsenal of the Norse pantheon and is used to slay any challengers to Æsir supremacy. While referred to as a club, an axe, and a hammer, Mjolnir was thought to be capable of toppling giants and entire mountains with a single blow.

I was okay with just saying to Nancy, "we're taking the LT", but she had heard that others had named their bikes and wanted to name ours. Since she was involved it just had to be a masculine name, she ain't no Rosie O'Donnell ;)
With the guys I say LT, GS and K-R but, when she asks which bike to we're taking I have to use their name or spend 20 minutes expaining "K" is for 4 cylinders, "R" is for "Boxer" or two cylinders, numbers for displacement and following letters for function.....PITA.
So I just go with:
LT, "Dieter": warrior of the people (people being Nancy and me)
GS, "Gunter": warrior (inference is solo, as in I ride it solo most of the time)
K-R, "Wolfgang": path of the wolf (in short, this bike brings out the wild side)
.

I have three adult children and my LT brought to mind those long hot Summer days in E. Texas watching the kids. A favorit early morning show was Winnie the Poo. The old gray donkey's name was Eeyore. Old and wise. A little over weight and hard to move around. A little bit slow. Until it came to the twistees. There life began. :bmw:

I had a 1982 Honda Nighthawk that had a multitude of fluid leaks.
It got dubbed the "Honda Valdez". by friends. By far the funniest and most approapriate name ever attached to any of my vehicles.
My LT is BaDsalt. I just added a "D" to it's color. Because it is a bad influence on me. Kind of a spin on "bad dog".
