That was a factory paint job in 03/04. Alpine White/Orient Blue. I did notice that people would slow down if I came up behind them on the freeway. Does look like a cop bike from a rear view mirror...

I'm glad we started this forum! I'm going to MotoGP in a couple of weeks, and plan on shooting a bunch while I'm there. Irecently got the Canon 70-300IS lens with dual mode stabilization. Mode 2 shuts off horizontal stabilization so you can pan and shoot while maintaining vertical stability for slower shutter speeds. I'll put up a web page full after the races.

This is going to be a great thread! You guys are really talented and make me jealous! :D

I hope somewhere down the road someone can explain to me how to take pics while in the saddle - I have a relatively small Olympus FE-120. How do you keep from dropping your camera when it gets in the wind stream? Where do you keep it between shots?

I know, silly questions, but just trying to learn... I'll never rival some of you, but I do miss some good shots by not knowing (or feeling comfortable trying) how to best take a pic from the saddle...

Most use some type of mount on the handlebars. I have a clip inside my tankbag that I hook my camara to then just leave it in my lap. If it falls it only drops 8 inches or so . But... I am looking at getting a ram mount :D
BTW ...I love this new forum it's wonderful

BTW ...I love this new forum it's wonderfulI just put a post up in this forum showing the new Stylus 770SW from Olympus. It is rugged and waterproof. It might be a good choice for a RAM mount.

I'll second (or 4th or whatever) on this being a great idea, Randy. I play around with a little photography from time to time but would like to spend much more time at it.
I have a Canon 30D with 24-105 IS and a 100-400 IS. I also use a Nikon 4200 pocket camera. I just got a Toyo 4X5 but have only taken a couple of photos with it.

I will dig through a few photos to post but will have to shrink them a bit first.

Well here is my first addition to the new forum. And I'm like Dave Dragon in that I don't use a mount for my camera. It hangs from the strap on my wrist. Of course it isn't a high $$$ Canon, Nikon or Olympus unit, it's just a little Canon PowerShot A620.

I think you mean "Silicone" Valley. ;):D I put it at 4 valleys from what I can see, I think that qualifies as a mountain range! :rotf:

OK so we weren't on a motorcycle trip. We were on a trip and saw several motorcycles.... Jeez forum is barely a couple days old and already bending
the rules. In all seriousness, the first two pics were shot with my 30-70mm lens w/ a wide angle lens added on. Really liked using the WA lens indoors
but I have noticed a distinct distortion near the edges. I have adobe CS2 and know there are ways of offsetting it but I am unsure of how to do that
at this time.

First, early shaft drive Wanderer in Ingolstadt at the Audi HQ.

Second, another example of German bikes that aren't BMW

Third, hey at least there is a bike in the backgound!!! :p

Most of my pic's are on the fly. I use a Canon S500 and tape the controls to keep them from changing to movie mode, or anything else i don't want. I use two long metal lanyards so I have a range of about 30", one goes around my neck and slides on the one that is attached to the camera. With that range I can hang it close to the ground on a sweeper or point it in back down by the saddle bags to get a different angle. It is the silver thing around my coat collar. If the camera falls it will only go so far and some times I just sit it in my lap between shots. Shots, I take lots and use a 2gig card and a back up card. To save on batteries I turn off the display. I have at least 3 charged batteries at all times and a charger powered in my take bag. I can point and shoot this about as good as if i was looking through the view finder because I have practiced this for about 4 years. It does take practice i have missed so many great shots because of not being prepared in the past (still do). This pic is going down through Canyonlands Park at about 50mph.

There are some nice shots in this thread and having just run across it (as i don't often log in here) let me throw one in the pot.
While I have gone thru a number of digital cameras before finally plunking down the cash for DSLR (to replace my early 70's Nikon F) one of the best shots has to be this one taken with a little 3.1 megapix camera (one of the first I tried out) Its one of those shots that just jump out at ya. Not planned at all, it just appeared :D .

I did clean it up some removing anything that came thru in the background, but it was taken at night so it was mostly black background.

The bikes just happened to be lined up like this as they had been moved under some shelter for the night. Taken last year an the BMWBMW Octoberfest we put in MD.

enjoy
