A local retired couple from Rowland Heights ,Ca was caught in the Utah fire and struck by a station wagon. It appears that they had headed out on on a trip to Billings ,Montana . They tried to push through the smoke and ended up in a 5 car pile up getting hit by a station wagon killing both riders. They had a family of motorcycle riders. 4 boys, two girls ,eight grand kids and two great grand kids. Very sad.

ouch...

Makes me wonder what to do if/when I hit one of these dust storms out here in the desert.

I blasted thru a dirt tornado that was hanging over the road, watched a car disappear into it but it was just a tornado, sooo..slow approach, hit the gas, busted thru it but..

I'm sure I'll wish I had a GS when it happens so I can head out in the sand and stay off the road to avoid what happened to these folks.

Visibility was pretty much zero (the skies are smokey here more than 100 miles away). I am not sure there was anything they could have done different other than not being in the wrong place at the wrong time. My thoughts go out to their family.

Unfortunately the driver that hit them took off and has not been located. Hopefully that will change soon. I doubt perp would have faced charges related to the accident had he/she stuck around. My guess is the driver was involved in some illegal activity. That stretch of I-15 is a known smuggling route.

How can human being run over somebody and not know it, and if the know it that they ran somebody over, feel that can hide it. The article states they are still looking for the driver.
