Hi folks,
Having a big BBQ for the Bike and Skittles crowd next weekend. The theme that has been chosen is "Hillbilly". This was picked because I have a couple of bottles of Virginia White Lightning from my trip to the US in May.

Most folks will be dressing the part, (what does a hillbilly look like?) but I'd like to have some fiddle music to play early on to try and set the scene. I've picked up some US and Rebel flags, and am making shoofly pie, pecan pie, corn dogs, grits and a few other things to try and make it a little less of a British BBQ.

Anyone recomend some music I might be able to download/buy. Just looking for a few artists or song titles that have that sort of "Deliverance" feel. One of my buddies has borrowed a banjo, and is currently trying to learn to play duelling banjo's and I'll accompany on Guitar. Might try and video that bit!

There are only two kinds of music for a BBQ. Country and Western.

Thats just what the guys at work have been saying. "Hope you have both types of music, Country & Western"

I should have guessed someone would come up with that one on this forum. So, who do suggest, Grath watsisname, Dolly Parton, or the man in black, Johnny Cash.

OK everyone, time to bring out your pics from CCR Gatlinburg. Let's see 'em.

In the mean time, here's one example:

Don't forget the hound dogs. :)

and am making shoofly pie,
That's not "hillbilly", that's Pennsylvania Dutch.

Here are a few "dressup" ideas.

Oh, and be sure to have "deliverance" playing on the "telly" for the party too.

BBQ was a great event. Lots of eating and drinking, and just about everyone came dressed in their version of a Hillbilly.

here is a taster picture.
