I hope you are preaching to the choir here and that for most of us, it will just be another day of commuting to work on two wheels. As gas prices have gone up, I've seen more bikes in the parking lot at work. Even when it rains every day for two or three weeks!

I only saw one other bike on the 60 freeway here in So Cal on the way to work. It was still early.I did see a LEO in Riverside. He was riding a a "Black and White" sport bike . It was definitely a Honda though. Anyone have any info on which bike it is and which cities approved a Honda for the Cops?

I rode today and only saw two other bikes on my 22 mile commute to work, a Harley and a young guy on a CBR600. Probably has something to do with the forecast for t'storms this afternoon.

Rode today...pretty much like every day. Hit a complete downpour halfway to work...at it's not supposed to do that in the AM here in summer.

Do I get extra points for it on RTW day?

Funny, I commute on my Bike most every day. Just the other day I bought a road bicycle (a mountain biker by heart). Today, on the official ride your bike day, I for some reason decided to commute to work on my 'new' bike. 26 miles. Man it was fun, guess the LT has some summer competition.

While I currently don't have a job I rode to my legal deposition on Wednesday only to see less bikes on the road than the day before. Also only half the bikes in the parking lot.

Quite frankly I think a July date for Ride to Work Day is NOT the best idea as many folks are on vacation or dealing with kids (hence riding in the car) and this is not representative of the riders out there.

Today I think I'll take a ride to Malibu, the excuse (as if I needed one!:rolleyes: ) is that I want get out of the heat in the San Fernando Valley and get some cool ocean breeze!:D

I have been riding all week. My Aunt is borrowing our second car so my wife is driving my truck, so I did not have much a s choice. I am not complaining. I don't mind riding in the rain.

This may seem like a small issue, but it's bugged me for years, long before I joined this group.

I've been the chair of the Parking and Traffic committee at my university for the last decade (probably the most controversal committee assignment in that small world) and I've been successful in getting acceptance for alternative methods for attaching our parking permits to motorcycles, methods that don't involve sticking those damnable glops to the cycle surface.

But I have a double life: I'm also a retired Army officer (as of last month). To access military posts/bases, I need to affix my DOD sticker to my bike (unless I want to spend fifteen minutes in line getting a one-day temporary permit each time I go on post).

Until now, I've bitten my two-star tongue and affixed the requisite sticker to some part of the bike (forks or fairing). But I don't want to do that with my K12--it's too pretty.

Has anyone else in the active/retired military community come up with an alternative?
